Wander Suero
« Topic Start: June 25, 2017, 11:18:08 AM »
Right-handed closer,Wander Suero, needs to be noticed, now that he is saving games for Syracuse.  He has 13 saves between AAA and AA and a WHip of 1.23  (0.68 in AAA). Small sampling, but he is 25 and has been in the system, rising to the top. No idea what his pitches are, but he's doing the job and what with the Nationals bullpen sucking air, he might get a chance. Worth watching anyway.

Suero was promoted from Double-A Harrisburg to Syracuse back on June 2. While with the Senators, the 25-year-old right-hander had a 1.96 ERA in 18 games and had ten saves in 11 chances. As a reliever, you have to throw strikes and Suero did that with 23 strikeouts to just five walks in those games.
. . .
Back in 2010, the Nats signed Suero as a minor league free agent out of the Dominican Republic. In each of the last two spring trainings, Suero has been in Major League camp as a non-roster invitee. . . .

Mentions getting ahead and a strong breaking ball as his keys.
