why was the Wounded Animal trying to stretch that into a double?  Isn't that, like, against the Baseball Code or something?

I think Wieters kicking into reverse and executing a 3-point turn to return to 1st, still would have been better than attempting 2nd there.

I'm never bloody happy, am I?

Whatever ailment kept Taylor out of the lineup for a couple of days had to be something that was too embarrassing to divulge.

Any of you remember when the Nats color guy was Tom Paciorek?

In 2006, former player Tom Paciorek was the color commentator for the Washington Nationals, but his contract was not renewed for 2007. (His last broadcasting job, now age 70.) He is fondly remembered amongst Nationals fans for his distinct pronunciation of "Alfonso Soriano," a Nationals outfielder that season: "Eelfahnso Soriaahno".

Paciorek is famously known by the nickname "Wimpy", which was given to him by Tom Lasorda after a dinner with minor league teammates in which he was the only one to order a hamburger instead of steak.

I had hoped they would keep him but instead we got Don Sutton. He and Mel Proctor would've been fine by me.

"A Boy Named Sue" was made popular by Johnny Cash when he recorded it live at California's San Quentin State Prison at a concert on February 24, 1969. The song became Cash's biggest hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and his only top ten single there, spending three weeks at No. 2 in 1969, held out of the top spot by "Honky Tonk Women" by The Rolling Stones. The song is performed mostly in the speech-like style of talking blues rather than conventional singing.

In his autobiography, Cash wrote that he had just received the song and only read it a couple of times. It was included in that concert to try it out—he did not know the words and on the filmed recording he can be seen regularly referring to a piece of paper. Cash was surprised at how well the song went over with the audience.
