Goodwin.   :?

When do we get Eaton and Werth back?

Eaton's out for the year; haven't heard anything recent about Werth but his return to action for some reason is more difficult than expected.

---
Losing to any team is disappointing (but over the course of a 162-fixture season, understandable within reason).

Losing to that pathetic joke of a franchise is galling.

I fully expected to lose this game in the 9th, so whatever we lost it in the 8th.  I'm just pissed that Scherzer got tagged with the loss, our bullpen deserves the loss more than him even if they don't pitch.

You can nag all you want about Baker but that is just a play you have to make at 1B no matter who the freak you are. Like mitlen said earlier, you expect that play to be made at any level beyond Babe Ruth league. And the offense could've contributed to this game as well but they failed miserably.

Unfortunately our bullpen is so unreliable that I almost can't blame them for chasing the no hitter.

I said (to nobody since it was just me in my living room over my lunch break) they should have pulled him after the base hit.

I think my favorite part is Dusty has no problem pushing Max when he's clearly on fumes and the no-hitter gone (and if the bullpen blows it, just adds more pressure to force The Not-So-Great Baldini to make moves for relievers), but can't put hitters like Murphy and Zimmerman in for the last few innings when we have a narrow lead and a whole freaking off day tomorrow.

I hear ya, but what about a concern the game goes into extra innings and bench players are needed ?

Lind picks the ball, you're probably not going to extra innings.

Frankly, Zim probably should a been subbed in for defensive purposes.

Agree in Zimm but the bullpen could easily have blown it in the ninth.

Dusty has to take Max out after the no hitter is lost no matter how bad the bullpen is. It's about October and not leaving a pitcher in when he is clearly gassed.

Of course, but they were perilously defending a 1-0 lead and chasing a no-hitter. You put your all-star defender on the field.

Yea. I would have made that move. And taken Max out right after the hit.

That's... actually a pretty valid point. Heh.

No telling what the bullpen would have done in the bottom of the 8th today if Dusty would've called on them, but all signs point to something along the lines of "craping the bed".

At least DC United won last night (scoring a run-of-play goal for the first time since the Hanover dynasty reigned in England) so the sports day wasn't a total write-off.

Ok. What's a run of play goal?
