Nationals place RHP Jerome Williams on 15-day disabled list; select contract of LHP Billy Traber05/16/2007 11:30 AM ETMLB.comThe Washington Nationals today placed right-handed pitcher Jerome Williams on the 15-Day Disabled List with a right shoulder strain and selected the contract of left-handed pitcher Billy Traber from Columbus of the Triple-A International League. To make room on the 40-man roster, the Nationals transferred first baseman Nick Johnson from the 15- to the 60-Day Disabled List. Nationals Vice President and General Manager Jim Bowden made the announcements.Traber was 1-2 with a 2.60 ERA (8 ER/27.2 IP) in 10 games (two starts) for Columbus at the time of the promotion. He walked only four and struck out 16 in 27.2 International League innings.The 27 year-old Traber is 10-12 with a 5.57 ERA in 48 big league games (26 starts) with Washington and Cleveland. Last season, Traber went 4-3 with a 6.44 ERA in 15 games (eight starts) with Washington. He was originally selected in the first round (16th overall) of the 2000 First-Year Player Draft by New York (NL).Williams, 25, is 0-5 with a 7.20 ERA in six starts for Washington in 2007.The transfer of Johnson to the 60-Day Disabled List does not affect the date in which he is eligible to be reinstated to the 25-man active roster.
