I don't recall a bench player like him ever. And what a great insurance policy for Zim. He is probably average defensively at first and needs a defensive replacement in left.

not many have guy who hit 35 hr as a dh on their bench so there is not many like him. he wanted to win so he came here. I am sure we were not the best offer.

By all means. Type of bat and versatility we've needed for years.

Feels good to finally have a legit power bat off the bench.

Not only a wow that you came up with that name but I followed the Senators and I have no recollection of him at all. Good job.

Sure we were. Guys with that skill set were a dime a dozen this offseason.

What's his current contract look like?  Is it a one-year deal?  Is there a team option?  He's been way too effective to be had as cheaply next year as he has been this year.  My guess is that he goes back to the AL as a DH/1B/LF, which is really how he's best used.  I'm hoping we have a cheap team option on him for next year though!

Sheesh - we're paying Werth $10million next year, Soriano $2Million and Blanton... BLANTON! $1Million. That makes dumping $5Mill on Lind look like total value.
