He got scant support from his teammates, Posey just watching and the infield slow to respond.  Who was that that collided with Morse?

Then it took four of them to get him off the field, and he throwing elbows and shoving Pence in the face the whole way off the field.  Pence, who's on the DL with a hammy.    :?

That was Samardzja that took out Morse.  He was going straight for Bryce.

After my original post, I googled it.     If it's for "cool kids", I'll just move on.    :)

It's for internet trolls.

I don't need to Reddit.    I watched it.     :couch:

I say 4-5. And no way the helmet slipped, he threw it past him in frustration but no way he was meaning to clock Strickland with it.

Something lost in this is how hard Bryce's butt is. That ball bounced halfway to third base...

I think it hit the weird mitten he puts on when he reaches base. At least it sounded like it did.

Very good analysis - Strickland = Papelbon.  Bryce had every right to do what he did.  I just don't like it when he's not in the line-up.

My takes:

Morse going to control Stickland and has a pretty epic collision w/ Jeff S.  Good guy Morse!

Bryce decided at the last minute not to throw the helmet AT Strickland.  Good guy Harper!

Whoever said Strickland is the Giant's Papelbon seems about right given their reactions in the melee and post-game.

My initial reaction was 6-8+ games for the helmet throw.  Now I'm thinking it could be as low as 2-3 given how most everybody's take is Strickland is a douche and Harper was justified...

I have no doubt in my mind that Harper meant to nail him with the batting helmet, and simply missed.

However, I hope the intent doesn't factor in to the suspension that he eventually gets

A baseball is designed to be thrown. A helmet is not.

I just watched the video like 10 times in a row-his whole arm goes to the right, that was clearly the direction he intended the helmet to go.  I could've winged that helmet at Strickland and got him at that close distance and I have zero skills at throwing things

I'm listening to MLB on xm this morning. They are focusing on posey and the shortstop not responding to harpers charge. Consensus is that they weren't happy with Strickland.  ESPN guys are blaming Strickland as well.

Loved Zimmerman's comment about being able to charge the mound if he strikes out twice.

Yep. Given his current contract, pretty sure he made the right decision.

This whole melee got me thinking......who is the baddest Nat that I would not want to mess with.    I'm thinking Bryce is the strongest but Roark is probably the most gung ho and ready to mix it up.  Koda?  Maybe Ramos last year?

Used to be Espinosa for me   ....   Now, I'm bettin' Koda's the scrapper.   He was headin' for the heap yesterday.    Often tell my son, you wanna mess with the badass and not the crazy ass.    I think Koda walks the edge.    That's another reason I like him as the closer.

Espinosa seems less like he would throw haymakers that connect with nothing but air

I see him as a bat man in a brawl but he probably couldn't hit anything with that either.    :)

It looked like he was throwing a forearm at Harper.

For the record that Braves-Padres brawl is still the best I've seen in any sport.

Lefferts was running in the opposite direction. :lmao: That should be an automatic 30 game suspension for plunking a batter on purpose and running after the fact.

then Espinosa would be baseball's #1 badass.
