Where are they now and could they help us?
« Topic Start: May 22, 2017, 08:24:40 PM »
This rightfully belongs in the former Nats thread but I felt it wouldn't get as much play. I went thru MLB rosters and picked out as many players who were a Nat or were drafted as a Nat and traded prior to making their debut. I selected only active roster players. Please add or delete if you choose.

C  - Leon, Norris , Suzuki

P  -  R.Ray, Ian Krol, Storen, Rich Hill , Worley. Blevins, Milone, Pivetta , Rivero, Stammen, Melancon, Clippard, Zimmermann, Peac--K,  Karns, Alex Meyer, Petit, Belisle, Scrabble , Smoker , Fister and Estrada

Inf  -Bonafacio, Desmond, Espinosa, Escobar and Cabrerra

OF  - Tyler Moore, Span , Revere , Morse  and  Souza

Happy with the back up catcher situation

Melancon, Rivera, Clippard, Estrada, Blevins, and Robbie Ray

No to everyone else.

I agree with Slate.    If I'm diggin' in the heap, it's gonna be a pitcher.

None of the position players are upgrades over our regulars.  A healthy Span might be the only guy who would start for us now, and he's not better than Eaton.  Depending on Leon's real offense, he'd be the only potential upgrade on the bench.

But the pitching . . .   Several would look very good right now.

P  -  R.Ray, Ian Krol, Storen, Rich Hill , Worley. Blevins, Milone, Pivetta , Rivero, Stammen, Melancon, Clippard, Zimmermann, Peac--K,  Karns, Alex Meyer, Petit, Belisle, Scrabble , Smoker , Fister and Estrada

Hill would have been really helpful except the blisters are out of control.  I don't think he can give 10 more games.  Peac--K and especially Smoker would have been good bullpen pieces.  Ray is interesting, Cllippard would help but was getting a big contract, Rivero so the real "I can't believe we let him get away" is Estrada.  Estrada, Rivero, and Clippard would be the biggest help right now.

All of the RP would be nice, but Robbie Ray is the one I wish we could have back. Loved him before the trade, really like his stuff now. The lefty we will need for the future with Gio moving on after this year. That said, I can't complain about us giving him up. Fister was great for us and the trade had to be made.

Wish we had Estrada. What a rotation that would be.

Unfair to pick two guys who were traded for each other.
