With a lineup this good and bullpen this bad, I wonder if bringing in a pinch hitter who's AAA level to replace a guy who just mowed down the Phillies would be considered a good decision by the stat guys?

Double header tomorrow. Probably want Turner for one of those games

As with so much about baseball, I hadn't thought of that.

One night, I sat in the last row in the 400s on the left field line.    We were almost eye level with the MASN booth.    I can understand how he misreads 'em.

I agree. Plus, Carpenter is directly over home plate. When I've been in the 400 seats, down a line, I could see something of the flight of the ball.

OTOH, if this game goes in to extras, Baker burned his long arm.

Mike Maddux with the serious look. Tom Brown said that Gil Hodges had a look that could go right through you.

It's intentional - to create excitement, even if it's a routine fly ball

Meh, I don't think so. It's annoying as hell. I'm used to it but I know people who fall for it a lot and make fun of him.

And I don't buy that he's high up in that booth. Just wait a fraction like other announcers do.

FP, only hitting into one out instead of hitting into a double play is not as good as a hit.  Man, you do spew the positive bullcrap.

He really didn't throw that many pitches -- 21.  Thought it was a very encouraging outing, especially after the scary, rocky start.

So, basically, Glover and Kelley won't be available for the DH
