...  and why is that imref?

It got me more interested in the subject.  Up until that point I'd never had a math class where they taught the 'how' and 'why' the formulas were developed.  Calculus seemed more practical than a lot of the other math classes I had taken to that point.

Serious question  ...  What is calculus used for?

If we triple the score we might have a big enough lead to allow Treinen pitch an inning.
hahahahahahaha

Matthew Brady snapped it.

Had to look that one up

Charlie and Dave don't sound too confident in Ross tonight :nervous:

The very best class I ever had was at a community college - a general education requirement - called Introductory Counseling.  It taught me how to listen - and how to interact with people when they get overly emotional.  2IPAs has told me she would rather have had the chance to cut off my balls before I took that class.  But honestly - the class helped me so much with interacting with people.

I took calculous in community college.  My professor spent as much time explaining the origin of calculus and how Newton developed it, as he did teaching the actual formulas, methods, etc.  It was a fascinating class, maybe the best math class I've ever taken because it wasn't simply "here's the formula, now memorize it" but instead we learned why it actually mattered.

I wish I could remember his name (or find my transcript).  It was back in the 80's so I doubt he's even alive anymore.

Measuring change.  You would need it, for example, to calculate the trajectory of a rocket.  Newton used it to figure out planetary motion among other problems.

If you haven't seen October Sky, as soon as this game is over, find it and watch it.

Chris Coghlin somersaulted over Yadier Molina to score at home tonight.  Unbelievable.
