I mean, that's to be expected when you're basically starting a Spring Training team for two months.

They'd been boucning between 870 and 910 for most of the season. So, to be at 859 isn't that alarming, but after that big game to close out the series vs. Milwaukee, they were on a 912 run pace and have been steadily dropping from there. It wouldn't take a ton to get back up to the 870 range, but need to get some of these guys back into the lineup.

Which makes it remarkable they've won as much as they have. They've actually expanded the lead through all that.

Cutting down on runs given up by the bullpen countered the dip in runs scored pretty nicely too.

That's true, but I would have expected some regression in that and in fact, we've been winning at a pace that's greater than our season average. I'd say that's a testament to depth the S&D and Rizzo have done.

After 4 straight good offensive games, the Nats remain on an 859 run pace. Hopefully getting Werth and Turner back will jump start the offense that's been scuffling a bit the past month or so.

I think it's funny that everyone is jumping to conclusion that the bullpen sucks and must be shored up with trades.

We just need to average a shade over 15 runs a game. It can be done.

I was exaggerating to some degree. I think it's unlikely, but not quite absurd. The Cubs last year scored 808 runs. And that was with an inferior lineup to this one. No Schwarber, Hayward with no production, not very significant production from SS.
I know it's early. But at some point these things are going to be real. We've played almost 10 percent of the season? When do you start believing this? 20 percent, 40?, 100 😉?
I think it's funny that everyone is jumping to conclusion that the bullpen sucks and must be shored up with trades.
But in the exact same sample size, no one believes these offensive stats even though if you look at this lineup there's many reasons to believe it could be an absolute monster. I think they will reach 850.

Here’s the whole quote. I wasn’t wrong

6 runs a game gets them to 850. 9, with one game of 10, gets them to 900.

Huh?  what I said was if you think it’s too early to think this offense is going to be a monster then it’s too early to think the bullpen needs to be blown up. You can’t say it’s a small sample for one and not the other. And that’s absolutely true. Both assertions actually proved to be correct. Nowhere in that quote did I say the bullpen didn’t suck, (although  I wasn’t as down on it as some folks early on) I was commenting on folks who always think good performance is fleeting and bad performance is permanent.
