Might be a good time to start picking regular season GDTs. Opening Day is Monday and it looks like a large number of our posters will be at the Park, not that it precludes starting a GDT. We have some very creative folks around here. I hope one of 'em grabs Opening Day and makes it real pretty.

It should be mandatory that no one gets to do a GDT unless they've done their predictions first. No balls for a prediction then no GDT.

Since this is my first season on here, will somebody explain GDT to me? Can anyone start them? Should they? What are responsibilities if you do?

Welcome! Anyone can start a GDT. At a minimum, it should include the lineups but some people get very creative in terms of fonts, colors, themes, additional information, etc. Take a look at some of the old ones in the Archive section on the main WNFF page. It's kind of a competition on here but there's not always someone willing to step up. If you know you want to do a specific game, stake your claim here in this thread. If no one claims a game, I always say it's fair game to go for it if it's a couple hours before the game and no one else has started one.

Go back and look at the 2016 GDTs for a sense of what it is. Anyone can start one. All ya gotta do is follow the "format" of startin' one. Basically, it includes the lineups, broadcast info and occasionally the local weather. Chief has a thread on starting a GDT. Once you start the thread, all you gotta do is get the hell out of the way while the feeding frenzy takes place.

Yep and to add on .... OC (Old Chelsea) usually keeps a running total of Ws and Ls. Last year's is shown in his post above. If ya (DCfan) see a game you want, call for it.

The Predictions thread is already locked.

I didn't do a Prediction last year and was 7-0 in the regular season GDT creations. But we lost the first playoff game, which was my GDT. In prior years when I did a Prediction post, my GDT record was probably .500 or worse. (Does someone have a Career GDT record compiled? I made 6 in 2015.)

I sent The Chief a PM to ask if he wants to prepare the Opening Day GDT.

It just so happens we have some big upgrades going on at work today, so I'm probably going to be catching what I can of the game on the "radio". Don't think that doesn't mean I'll know if there are shenanigans in the GDT!
