Defensive stats are crap.

He made a hell of a play, perhaps game saving, on the catch against the center field wall. We're paying Eaton for his bat but his defense isn't bad.
more to the point, they are meaningless after two weeks.  They are downright misleading at this point if they are extrapolated to a full season.  I'd prefer ESPN highlight reels to most defensive stats, even statcast, at this point.

I think they will have to shoot him tonight.  RIP Mighty Mouse.

Couldn't believe the Mets didn't test his arm on that play where they held the runner at third, his throw came in low, they would have scored. Sux that we lost and really sucks that he got hurt. Hopefully just a bad sprain and 8-12 weeks.

Rub some dirt on it.

I did like how Dusty took off his own hat and put it under Eaton's head when they rolled him over. A nice touch to keep the Mouse's hair out of the dirt.

If they don't know whether it's the knee or the ankle, I'm guessing it's a broken bone.  I'll guess fibula, rather than tibia, from the fact it looked like he was grabbing the outside of the leg.  If it is a broken fibula, he's probably out for the year.  Not sure how it would permanently affect his speed, as compared to an ACL or broken ankle.  Might be ok starting next year through the rest of the contract.

On the other hand, maybe it's a just a really bad ankle sprain with pain referring up the leg.  Wouldn't bet on it though.

Re-watched the slow motion. His foot hits the bag and turns sideways at the ankle. I don't think it's broken. I wouldn't be surprised if he tore a ligament or something.

Not that they're doctors or anything, but some of the quotes from teammates in the WaPo game story article are pretty alarming - e.g., Scherzer saying that "his whole leg kinda falls apart." In other words, I'd be surprised if Arkansas didn't hurry up and get him put down this week.

No, they put him down last night.

Shouldn't you be resting up for the game tonight? We need you.

This seems a best case scenario although it's hard to know how severe.  I really thought he broke or sprained his ankle severely while also ripping his knee apart.  I even thought the other leg was injured also the way he landed on that.  When Bryce dogged it on that DP to end the game I told myself that you can't blame the guy--doesn't make sense to have a serious injury to win a game in late April.

So a knee strain.  What does that mean in terms of time?  3 months?
