But only two batters. You wanted him in to pitch the entire ninth. The whole post season last year was about smart managers not being tied to traditional bullpen roles but everyone here is hung up when we don't have guys in standard roles. Relax. It was game three of 162.

the number of batters is not the issue. He got hot. He was available. If he wasn't available, he shouldn't have gotten warmed up in the first place. Treinen is the closer. The 9th inning is his. Lefty, righty .... doesn't  matter. It's his inning. If you have to play bullpen matchups in the 9th inning, you don't have a closer. You have a bunch of bullpen arms.

Dusty sucks at this. Rizzo needs to do what the Royals did for Yost and make it stupid simple. Go get a freaking closer (a real one) and then sort out who is the 7th inning guy and who is the 8th inning guy. Lefty, righty, doesn't matter. You freaking go with those guys because they are legit relievers.
