Nationals are creating new field-level seats at Nats Park

Less than two weeks before their season opener, the Nationals are still working on a new field-level seating section that figures to be among the most exclusive areas in Nationals Park.

Fans have, in recent weeks, spotted photographic evidence of the new section — which will be located beyond the home dugout up the first-base side, where the tarp used to be stored during games. The team declined to comment, but some fans who sit behind the new seating area have received letters from the team this week, explaining the change.

“As we embark on the 2017 campaign, we would like to inform you about an effort to upgrade our Park and maintain our status as one of the premier venues in Major League Baseball,” the letter begins. “On Opening Day, a new field level club will launch, situated beyond the dugout on the first baseline. This club will be sunken below field level in the approximate location where the tarp was stored during prior seasons. Our Season Plan Holders are extremely important to us, which is why we have taken great care to ensure that the new club will not impact the sightlines from existing seats. The tarp will be relocated to the third base side.”

Will those seats be behind the foul ball netting?

Get it done. MGM will never be more excited to spend money in the DC market than it is right now.

Just send people back and forth between the casino and the ballpark on the water taxi. As a partnership, it could work really really well.

MGM Field? MGM Park?

I'm always calling it Nats Park.

Is there any concern of ties to gambling? These sports leagues usually get in a tizzy when anything related to gambling is mentioned...

The Nats already promote a casino, don't they?

Yes, I was thinking naming the stadium after one is a little higher profile. I am holding out for Walgreen's (because of the logo) or Navy Federal (because of the location).

My favorite choice would be Hebrew Nationals hot dogs to get naming rights.  Hebrew Nationals Park amuses me.

I've been thinking GEICO would eventually pay up.

Does the new United stadium have a sponsor yet?

Yes, Audi Field. It's taken the Nats almost a decade to get naming rights, with nothing imminent, and United has a deal in place before their field is even constructed.

This is because they are holding out for a huge payday, I imagine. Or is there some other reason?

Yes. Rebranding is not ideal.

Are these "new" designated areas (especially CF and LF Lodge) by invitation or cover charge?    The CF location looks like they're trying to limit any ability to stand behind the barriers to watch the game.      It appears the Nats may be trying to cash in on what is now standing room areas.

Will these club seats include manicures/pedicures?
