lol right, because no one on the team is giving them any ammunition.  I get that we're all supposed to hate the media now but when teammates tell stories to reporters what are they supposed to do, say oh man Harvey might not like this, better not print it?

They should focus on the bigger story. How the Mets let their young pitchers exceed reasonable limits in 2015 and are now facing the music for that decision. And then it should be redone every few months. Like the shutdown Strasburg story.

I figure the Mets players are probably more upset with team management for letting Harvey abide the rules before coming down on him. Like most of us they are hypocrites and this is only an issue because he is pitching poorly. If he was doing well they would all be looking the other way.

it's a potential risk of permanent damage to his arm due to lack of blood flow if it breaks off and lodges in the smaller blood vessels downstream. It would be almost impossible to get to his brain though, unless he is predisposed to getting clots elsewhere, which i assume he isn't.

Hm. Given that it's arterial and in the arm, you're likely right. It'd be tough to get to the vein side of things which is where clots tend to be more of a problem.

*edit: My uncle died from pancreatic cancer causing a large clot in that area which ruptured into many small clots that caused a massive CVA, killing him about two days after finding out he had cancer. Since it was inoperable and already fatal, it was in some ways a small, if mixed, blessing.

Having had a DVT in my calf, I feel for the guy.  The pain is almost indescribable.

I suppose they would have said neck and not shoulder if it were in the carotid artery.  I have a friend who had a clot travel up the carotid after a neck injury. He's survived and does well, but it led to an early retirement.  A Nats Park regular.

Back to tequila (just for a moment).  I see in my liquor cabinet a bottle of El Padrino.   No idea what it cost, how it tastes, or how it got there.

  How does it rank? 

 (I'm not much of a tequila guy.  I love a few margaritas now and then but I'll usually opt for bourbon, scotch, or rum before tequila.)

Hubby had a venous clot in the shoulder - one day he woke up and his arm was very swollen, ice cold, and blue.  It turned out it was a type of thoracic outlet syndrome caused by a narrowing of the thoracic outlet which was squeezing the vein and damaging it.  Drs broke up the clot via catheter, and eventually he had to have his top rib removed.  That opened up the thoracic outlet space, and he's been fine since.  There are three variations of thoracic outlet syndrome, depending on what is being squeezed - venous, arterial, and neurological.  Mets sent Familia to the same Dr who treated Harvey for thoracic outlet, so I'm wondering if he has the arterial version. 

The surgeon gave hubby the rib she removed - he still has it somewhere in a jar.
