Saw a few fb rants from mets fan friends saying they did nothing in the of season to fix their many problems.
Neither did we

Eaton to replace Espinosa in the lineup was nothing?

Wasn't a problem. Offense was fine. Bullpen needed an overhaul.

You're right, Espinosa's 3 Ks per game weren't a problem.

Let's be honest, putting a statue of a baseball player holding out a bat in the batter's box would have almost been an improvement over Espinosa offensively.

Exactly. It's amazing how much the offense has improved with the only change being replacing Espinosa with Eaton. It's like night and day.

And a healthy Zimmerman and Harper ....

Ramos wasn't going to catch for us this year regardless if he stayed.  We brought in Wieters.  Big improvement over the alternatives.
Eaton replaces Espinosa in the lineup.  Big improvement.
Lind replaces Robinson as a lefty 1B/LF bat.  Big improvement.
Adding Blanton to the bullpen was a nice move.
Just patiently letting guys like Harper, Zimmerman, Strasburg, and Ross to get healthy was an obvious way to improve

At this time last year the Cubs had no better a bullpen than we have.  We can address the bullpen this summer if need be.

I knew the bullpen would come around. That was the one area that didn't get off to a good start. But they are solid pitchers. They're starting to find their identity. Being in the bullpen of a team with a great offense and great starting pitching. How could you go wrong there?

Mets are looking like a mess at this point.  Good.

Marlins sort of scare me right now.  We'll see if their pitching can hold up better for them than it did last year, especially after losing Fernandez.

They have very little pitching depth. The death of Fernandez will affect this franchise for years.

Yep, Yelich, Stanton, and Ozuna are a good base for the offense, but the pitching just isn't there.  The good news for them is those guys are young and controlled for years to come and they can build pitching around them.

The darn Phils aren't a threat in the division but they play us tough.  I don't enjoy playing them at all.

LOLZ. Really, the Nats are clearly the class of the division and if they play to their potential and stay healhty, they should win it be a half dozen games or so. If the Mets pitching stays healthy, they will be good, too, but their lineup doesn't scare anyone even when they're healthy. Everyone else is not even close. Marlins have a good lineup and no pitching. Phillies are too green but I don't know them that well.

There is a reason we had the 3rd best odds in Vegas to win the pennant. Assuming no catastrophic injuries we will win the division again by a fairly comfortable margin.

Mets are in trouble. They've lost five in a row and are 1-9 in their last 10.

Which means Collins is in trouble.

They're losing 2-0 to Atlanta

Do we want to pursue any of their relievers if they turn into sellers?   Famila?

Even as sellers, I can't see the Mets trading to their top division rival.  Bad PR for one.  Not a good look to help the Nats win.

I think there's a better chance the Mets do it than the Orioles. Mets and Nats have made trades in recent years.
