I guess I'll be the sunshine person. This is crazy panic over 1 series. The pirates are in last, but they weren't expected to be. And before the series the record outside the division was 8-5. Which is .615 ball and includes series wins over Cardinals, Rockies and D-backs. So basically all this fret is over one bad road series.
Look. The bullpen sucks. We all know it. But this amount of angst. In May? Over a team with an 8 game lead? Come on.
I wonder if Cubs fans are doing this.

You had me at panic.

All it takes is not scoring more than 6 runs in a game. Bullpen will take care of the rest
yes we have won all 25 games by scoring a ton and not holding leads. look the bullpen has been bad and blown some games but people act as if they have blown every game.

Maybe that's why the Caps flamed out.  The local coverage was nothing but puffery.
yes media coverage effects play on the field or ice in this case.
Wut?

if this was the case NY teams would win every year.

Good lord you guys are a bunch of panic monkeys. We were playing at a 110+ win pace, of course we were going to regress some. We're still going to win 92+ games and cruise to an NL East title. We have an offense that is #1 in many different statistics. Harper looks like he's MVP again. Scherzer is still great. Yeah we have some issues, what team doesn't?

We'll pound the Braves this weekend and all of you negative nancies can relax again.
I mean, even the Cubs lost a few series last season.

9-7 equates to 91 wins.

Here's another "good news" story in the Washington Post this morning.

"Their 25-15 record this season, through Thursday, has been bloated by their 16-8 intradivisional mark; against everyone else, they are a pedestrian 9-7."

I don't believe that was the comparison.

Just pointing out that if they win at the "pedestrian" rate of .5625, they're in the playoffs.

We were the only team in the division to notch a win today.

Since sportsfan882 has been doing the daddy thing, after the Nationals beat Seattle, I looked at the NL-East scores tonight.

Colorado beat the Phillies 7-2.
San Diego beat the Mets 6-5.

Two down, one left...

In the top of the 9th, Pittsburgh was losing in Atlanta 5-3.
2 singles, a walk and a single later, Pittsburgh ties it 5-5.
Atlanta walkoff? No: Ground out, walk, strikeout, strikeout.

Pittsburgh - Top of 10th   SCORE
Josh Collmenter pitching for Atlanta   PIT   ATL
Collmenter relieved Ramírez.   5   5
McCutchen hit for Rivero.   5   5
McCutchen singled to left center.   5   5
Stewart sacrificed to pitcher, McCutchen to second.   5   5
Ngoepe doubled to right, McCutchen scored.   6   5
Frazier intentionally walked.   6   5
Ngoepe to third, Frazier to second on wild pitch by Collmenter.   6   5
Harrison singled to left center, Ngoepe and Frazier scored.   8   5
Bell flied out to left.   8   5
Freese homered to center, Harrison scored.   10   5
Osuna homered to left.   11   5
Mercer homered to center.   12   5
McCutchen struck out swinging.   12   5
Pittsburgh scored 7 runs in the 10th inning.

Bottom of the 10th - Atlanta goes down 1-2-3.
Pittsburgh wins 12-5.

Probably included post season.     :couch:    Baseball-reference indicates the franchise started in 1876.

Mr Met flips off a fan.

Mr. Met technically does not have a middle finger, but has been fired anyway.
