Christian Yelich's list of the 5 toughest pitchers in the NL East. Two are predictable, one is going to surprise you.

lol, Yelich is so funny.

That's selective memory on Maddon's bullpen decision-making.  He overused Aroldis Chapman in the whole series and nearly got burned for it.  He put Chapman into Game 6 with a seven run lead and taxed him, leaving him tired for Game 7 and he gave up the tying homer to Rajai freakin' Davis.  Dusty may not be Joe Maddon but he is certainly not Matt Williams either.
Yea, I totally forgot who won the World Series. Maddon used what he had and it got him the win. Especially considering that he probably had the lesser of the two bullpens in the World Series.

I'm not ready to give up on Treinen. I think he needs a phantom injury and a couple appearances in the minor. His collapse seems mental. If he gets back to who he was he is a super valuable setup man or an emergency pitcher when bases are juiced in a tight game.

Yes, he lacks confidence.  It's all between his ears.  He'll get it straightend out but clearly the closer role is out of the question now.

I love what Yelich said about Scherzer.  It's so true I think.

No doubt Max has prescence, especially when he gets rolling...which is often.  Some guys you can see by their body language that they aren't confident.  Max is always in control.  Him, Murphy, Harper, Eaton...I love the way these guys approach the game both with effort and mentally.

That's what we've been hearing about Treinen for a while now. His stuff is as nasty as anybody, so from that standpoint, it shouldn't be too surprising he's on that list.

The guy's definitely got a career in journalism ahead of him after baseball, if he wants it.  Impressive writing.  (Unless there was a ghostwriter.)

Career in comedy I think by including Treinen.

Does anyone think these guys don't get help with the articles?

Yelich is really well-spoken, so it would not surprise me if he got nothing beyond standard editorial polishing on that.

No, all they did was show that post season success does not correlate with regular season success. We knew this already. Or at least some of us knew that. It's been quite obvious the last twenty years or so. Playoff baseball is so much more different than regular season baseball. You only need to two good starting pitchers to get through. You need a hot lineup. You need a quality pen. You have to have a closer.

If that were the case Vegas would be a lot better at predicting ws champions at the end of the season. They aren't because seven games isn't enough to ensure the better team wins

Injury plagued team with major issues comes into DC, ready to be really put behind the 8 ball. What happens? Nats let them get 2 wins, with chance at a sweep. Remember this series if you find yourself in September panic.

Did they have to sedate him to get him into the MRI machine?

Nah, the Nats did that pretty effectively.

Its weird that we struggle with the Mets a lot more at home. In Citi Field we look like the '27 Yankees.

10 days seems like a quick turnaround for a torn lat.  Isn't that what Rendon had after he made a diving stop a few years ago after spring training?  Seems to me it can drag on for a while.  Don't see him back in 10 days.

I listened to the Mets broadcast in the car for a bit yesterday, the announcers were really tearing into Thor for pitching yesterday.  They were acting like he hid an injury.

10 days is the current minimum DL.  That doesn't mean that's how long they expect him to stay there.  He can stay on the 10-day for months.  Eaton is on the 10-day DL, too.

Remember that Eaton was initially on 10 day DL. It's so they can immediately fill the roster spot. There is zero chance he's back in 2 weeks. I think there is very little chance he's back in 2 months. It was idiotic for him to pitch. I just don't know who's the bigger idiot, the Mets or Thor.

I have to think it is more on the team than him.  When they were talking that he couldn't lift his arm above his head a few days ago, they should have put him on the DL right then.  Teams have to protect players from themselves, and they are creating an awful track record for their young, star pitchers.

He refused to have the MRI.  Does the player contract allow the team to force him?
