Zim has 15 plate appearances in seven games with two walks, Tebow has four plate appearances in one game with one hit by pitch. No throwing errors for either of them.

Zimmerman entered spring training fighting for his starting job for the first time in his career. Unless he starts hitting his .000 batting average is going to put his spot on the 25 man roster at risk.

Do they put him at 1st on opening day with a .000 spring batting average? Maybe so, but Zimmerman was the 168th best hitter in MLB based on OPS last year, the only possible reason to even have him trying to win the starting job is his contract. At some point winning games has to trump eating salary.

They'll put him on the bench before they cut him

They'll DL him first. They can't waste a bench spot if he can't hit.

Everytime I listen to Carp and FP, they tell me Zim gets off the bus hitting.     :)

When a player appears to be on a downward slide for what, 3 years now they can be quite ominous.

If you want to follow a narrative, you can find it for just about any player.

Maybe she meant to say omnibus.  And I see the problem now.

He can't tell whether he's getting on the bus or off the bus.

Problem is he never gets there with getting injured again.  And at this point in his career it's probably more like 150 ABs.

Zim didn't travel with the team and Tebow is starting on the bench. It might be a good strategy for Tebow to come in later in games and face more AAA level talent.

Great chance for Zim to take the lead today as he starts and Tebow sits.

Zuck notes that Zimmerman, Robinson, Lind, and Skole have all been horrible this spring.  Sign Dunn!!

Yep, not good numbers from any of our guys at first, although four of the five are ahead of Tebow:

At some point, FP is bound to call Zimm the best #8 hitter in baseball.

Crap, completely missed that Tebow played in a second game and lowered his OBP to .125. So Zimmerman briefly dipped below the mark before surging back into the lead. I think that if Tebow had stopped after one game his lead would have been insurmountable. But as it stands it's going to be close.

If not for the wind it would have been a HR.
