Murphy, Harper, Werth.     When did Church win it?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_League_Baseball_Player_of_the_Month_Award

Don't forget, Dusty has won two!

Anyway, I'm looking at this list and for as long as I've been following baseball, I don't think there is anyone on this list that I didn't consider a good player. There are no real flashes in the pan.

You know what. maybe it was Rookie of the Month.  Anyway, May 2005.

I'm not a down in the weeds stats guy but when you mentioned Church and Player of the Month in the same sentence   ....   well, I said to myself, "Not that Ryan Church."      That's why I looked it up.     Hope everyone enjoys the list.    As an old guy, I enjoyed the trip down memory lane.

Keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeriste, I remember 'em all.     :old:

We have several Nats' managers on the list.

A week?    Maybe.     A month is a solid player.

Smart to switch to doubles, draws less attention.

The yard is playing big. (For the Nationals.)

I was so wrong about him. That shoulder must feel beautiful.

I'm just really happy for him. He is and always will be FACE. He was our lone shining star in some of our most miserable years. He deserves to be the catalyst for our first World Series win. I want him to retire with at least one ring. The first statue outside Nats Park should be Face.

Even in 2009 and 2010 he never had a stretch like this.

I don't recall a hitter having a reemergence like this after several down years. Of course if he didn't have the long contract he would have been DFAed long ago.

Mentioned something like this in yesterday's GDT.    It's been a long time since I've seen a player basically suck to come back to this level.   I hope he pulls it off.

What folks will say is that he has always been hitting the ball hard.  Maybe Murphy played him this and he took it to heart:

He's been worth 2.3 WAR in just 30 games. That's like, a 10-win pace! What a start to his season.

What's absolutely amazing is people are still pitching to him like he's 2016 Zimm.

ARod in 2015, kind of. Hit 33 HRs after not having hit 30 since 2010 due to injuries, suspensions, etc. He ranked 35th in the league in offensive runs that year, and everyone thought he was done.

Yesirree, those suspensions will get ya every time.    Comparing Zim's woes with a guy who got suspended for using PEDs is like comparing apples and apricots.     They're similar because they both start with "a".

They've also got juice in.
