So he gets Japan and Archer goes in the final if they get that far?

Archer can't go against SJ because of the rules. He pitched past his limit in the semis. And why is Kinsler getting so much playing time? Sure he's a better fielder, but not great enough on defense to warrant him starting over Murph. Kikuchi on the other hand is who I consider to be the best fielding 2nd baseman in the world.

I thought Archer went back to the Rays already?

So it only applies during the regular season?
Though I replied to you it wasn't directed at you. I believe this is an urban myth. This has been discussed previously on here and I don't recall if a consensus was formed.. Do you take the 60 AB's that most regulars get in ST and add 40 regular season AB's for the 100 total? Or is it 60 ST  plus 100? Some hitters start slowly ( Werth , Zim ) and others are hot. Very few are consistent like Murphs 2016 season.

It's an alternative factoid on WNFF.

quick, call Kellyanne.  We have to get this onto a Sunday talk show.  "It's a fact in my mind that . . . "

(PWC - "Mindfact" is attributed to Sportsfan back in the dark days of the franchise. Somebody has the quote in a signature line.)

Correct. It only applies to MLB level pitching.

I believe this is an urban myth.

I believe the 100 AB theory was posted here as a joke (during one of Zimmerman's slumps after a trip to the DL) and remained a running joke for a while. There are a few here who didn't get the joke and thought it was a theory accepted by some around baseball and then it took on a life of its own.

Zuck did a web chat today, in a couple of the questions there was speculation that we'll be looking to add a starter rather than a reliever given the uncertainty with our #5 slot right now.  The search for a starter probably heats up if Roark continues to struggle.

BTW, why isn't anyone blaming the WBC?

We don't need another starter. Honestly, unless the Braves make some amazing deals this season,,or the Mets magically get healthy, the Nats can win the division pretty easily. From there, they only need two good SPs, and a lock down pen.

What does the WBC have to do with anything?

We only have two good starters! Roark and Gio are what they are and Ross may not EVER be fixed. And you need a third starter at some point during the play-offs. What freakin' lock down pen? Rizzo may not make the necessary acquisitions if he is being held hostage.

Quote
In the season after the World Baseball Classic, the 44 pitchers who played in the tournament averaged 2.5 fewer starts and 17 fewer innings than the year before. And the average pitcher’s WAR (which measures how many wins a player accounts for above a replacement-level player) fell by half a win (2.96 to 2.47) between seasons, a decline of 16.5 percent.

In this test, it was found that pitchers who skipped the tournament experienced less of a drop. They averaged 0.7 fewer starts in the season after the WBC, and 3.2 fewer innings. Their WAR declined a tenth of a win between seasons (1.78 to 1.7), a drop of 4.9 percent.

Not a huge impact but there's still lots of debate over the WBC and impact on pitchers.

Should have traded him in the offseason when his stock was nice and high
