Franchise tags estimates:
http://www.pennlive.com/steelers/index.ssf/2017/02/nfl_franchise_tag_2017_position.html
QB is around $24MM.  Most other positions are in the $15 - 16MM range, but RB, TE and S are aroudn $10MM, and P and K are $4.6MM.

New England is not tagging Hightower.  I guess he needed a second strip sack instead of just a sack to stop the last field goal drive for ATL.

Steelers resigned Brown.   OK, I get that but James Harrison?     He's gotta be 50.

"The Steelers have announced that the team has signed linebacker James Harrison to a new two-year deal with the franchise through the 2018 season. Financial terms of the new contract were not disclosed."

Brady's a QB on NE.    Not like he's hittin' anybody every week.

Paper flowers in the SB parade don't count.     BTW   Kaepernick opted out.

First post of each year.  It's something I've been doing with our recurring topics for a while now.

Oh, I get it now.

Garcon is headed to San Francisco. Jackson is on his way to Tampa Bay. And DL FA target Calais Campbell is about to sign with Jacksonville. Mike Glennon to sign for 14.5 million with the Bears? :wtf:

Tony Jefferson and Danny Woodhead to Balmer. Not a super big fan of this, but apparently the next move may be signing Torrey Smith and releasing Mike Wallace. Torrey is an A++ dude, as I'm sure any Terp here would say too, but Wallace is the better talent.

amazing to me that Woodhead is still in the league.  He and "Law Firm" (BenJarvis Green-Ellis) were a superbowl tandem of RBs at one point, but I think that was 2011.  Given the wear and tear on RBs, plus his lowly early career status, it's a surprise he can still find fits where he's in demand.

Not a fan of that one, especially with the ACL injury. I guess a couple teams were in on him big time. His skillset is something the Ravens have in spades already. I don't get it. Love the Tony Jefferson get. Tony/Weddle as a safety duo :az:

Brock Osweiler to the Browns.  Looks like a salary dump, they are also sending a 2nd rounder.  In exchange Houston gets a 4th rounder.   Per ESPN, goal is to clear space to get Romo.  They further report that Cleveland is likely to try and trade Osweiler.

Who would want Osweiler and his contract? Other than the Brownies.

Good luck with that.

"Excuse me Mr. (General Manager).    The Browns are on the phone and wanna know if we wanna trade for Brock Osweiler."

Bears release Cutler after 8 seasons

Quarterback Jay Cutler's polarizing eight-year tenure in Chicago officially ended Thursday when he was released by the Bears.

Thank you, Jesus...

The gm released a statement talking about how excited they were to get the 2nd round pick, and also that Oswieler would be able to compete for the starting job. There are reports they plan on cutting him.

If they cut him, will he count toward the cap?     I don't know how that stuff works.

Upon further review, it doesn't matter.    It's the Browns.

Yea I think 16 mil, but there's something about them being so far under the cap they thought they could afford to pay that amount to get a 2d round pick. To give to the Patriots along with their #12 pick for Jimmy G :mg:

Free agency has been pretty entertaining that last two days, unless you're a Redskins fan that is :stir:

Apparently they want the #1 overall for Jimmy G. The Cleveland Steamers would make that trade!
