This is the least excited I've been for an NFL season in...basically forever.

That was me last year.  Now I'm just numb to it all...they could fold the League and I swear I wouldn't notice...

well, it does determine the seedings and brackets for the Belichik Invitational starting in January.

I am surprisingly psyched for this season, hopefully the games are better than that last couple years.

Until then, it's the Steelers flag on game days.   :)

Gross.

Elliott's suspension upheld but "because of the timing" he's eligible to play this Sunday against the giants. :wtf: Jerry Jones put crap in the game. Will the giants complain?

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/20597810/ray-lewis-said-baltimore-ravens-sign-colin-kaepernick-girlfriend-racist-tweet?device=featurephone

Quote
OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Ray Lewis said the Baltimore Ravens chose not to sign Colin Kaepernick after the quarterback's girlfriend posted a "racist" tweet featuring the former All-Pro linebacker and owner Steve Bisciotti.

"We were going to close the deal to sign him," Lewis said on Showtime's "Inside the NFL" on Tuesday night. "Steve Bisciotti said, 'I want to hear Colin Kaepernick speak to let me know that he wants to play football.'"

"And it never happens because that picture comes up the next day."

The Aug. 2 tweet by Nessa Diab compared a picture of Lewis hugging Bisciotti to a scene from "Django Unchained," where Samuel L. Jackson's loyal house slave held Leonardo DiCaprio's cruel plantation owner.

"His girl [Kaepernick's girlfriend] goes out and put out this racist gesture and doesn't know we are in the back office about to try to get this guy signed," Lewis said. "Steve Bisciotti has said it himself: 'How can you crucify Ray Lewis when Ray Lewis is the one calling for Colin Kaepernick?'"

Wow .... Kap's gf literally cost him a gig.

I couldn't sleep last night and saw this show was on and tuned it to see what they had to say. The first thing they did was introduce the new member of the team Ray Lewis. :wtf: That moron couldn't make it at ESPN because he can't piece together a coherent thought and he lands a new gig with Showtime. So now that show features Ray Lewis, Phil Simms, Boomer Esaison and host James Brown. :smh: And James Brown lost 80 pounds and doesn't look healthy.

Idiots are diverse.

Couple that with Kaepernick's own tweet this past June (when he was trying to catch on at NFL clubs) about police being a 'runaway slave patrol' (http://www.sportingnews.com/nfl/news/colin-kaepernick-twitter-police-slave-patrols-philando-castile-jeronimo-yanez/hpwkhzia4vru1bd8w0uwq5209)...think of him however you wish, but sometimes he can't seem to get out of his own way (and I had heard elsewhere not too long ago about his girlfriend being a bit of a loose cannon).

We've learned that the NFL will not tolerate political idiocy- spousal abuse and the occasional murder they're fine with, but being out there on politics - nope

Beating your wife, using drugs/steroids, murders still haven't made dummies turn off foozball. Only when their second favorite pastime/shouting match gets involved do they threaten to turn off the teevee

It depends on if the player in question is any good or not and Kaepernick hasn't been any good for a couple of years now.

What I'm saying is that if you're an unquestionably good player with "off the field issues", you'll get signed, but if you're not; and Kaepernick has not been for a few years now; you'll likely be considered too much trouble to bother with.

They also are willing to accept lower salaries and/or the backup role AND don't get people worked up over politics.

Stallworth was pretty near the end when he got drunk and killed a guy- still played for four more years.

Guy stepped out in front of him, not forgiving him from drinking and driving but the court found he wasn't solely at fault for the man's death.

So it looks like the Elliott saga is still pending and depending on the ruling on Friday he might be allowed to keep playing until they figure out what the hell is going on. Isn't this a case where the woman already refused to testify (meaning she already got paid to go away)?

Ray Lewis admitted to covering up a murder (that he probably participated in), he has a statute in front of a stadium

I have no idea what that has to do with Stallworth's situation.

I'm just saying that murder seems to be ok with the NFL, if stallworth is a bad example, then Lewis is a pretty good one

Lewis was the one wielding the knife and he lands gig after gig struggling to say anything of relevance.
