What does this have to do with Welington Castillo not playing for the Cubs last year?

But seriously, Willson Contreras played a third of his games LF and OPSd .845 last season. If Derek Norris can do that, go ahead and run with three C. They also had a perfect platoon between Montero (300 points higher OPS vs. RHP) and Ross (300 points higher OPS vs. LHP).

Whereas Norris, Wieters, and Zimmerman all have the same split - weak against RHP, strong against LHP. So again - why does it make sense to keep a third catcher who can only "play" 1B? You're never planning to platoon Norris for Zimmerman, and if Zimmerman gets injured then Lind is already playing the fat half of the platoon at 1B.

It makes sense for when Zimmerman goes on the DL for 80 games and you need a platoon split for Lind
