Has anyone ever tried cooking based on one of those recipe .gifs that are always floating around Facebook?  Did it work?

Anybody ever eaten at a Mission BBQ?  They are opening a new location in the Greenbriar shopping center in Chantilly, near Dogfish Head.

Agreed, but for me Mission would be quite a lot closer.

Here is a great recipe I made last night that had 2IPAs raving over how it came out

Red Lentil Curry

Ingredients
2 cups red lentils
i lb ground chicken or turkey
1 pkg sliced mushrooms
1 large onion, diced
1 green pepper sliced
4 celery stalks sliced
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
4 tablespoons curry paste
2 tablespoon curry powder
2 teaspoon ground turmeric
2 teaspoon ground cumin
2 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon brown sugar
2 tablespoons minced garlic
2 teaspoon minced fresh ginger
2 (14.25 ounce) cans tomatoes

Directions

1.  Brown ground chicken/turkey and set aside.

2.  Wash the lentils in cold water until the water runs clear. Put lentils in a pot with enough water to cover; bring to a boil, place a cover on the pot, reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer, adding water during cooking as needed to keep covered, until tender, 15 to 20 minutes. Drain.

3.  Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat; cook and stir onions, peppers, mushrooms, & celery in hot oil until caramelized, about 20 minutes.

4.  Mix curry paste, curry powder, turmeric, cumin, chili powder, salt, sugar, garlic, and ginger together in a large bowl; stir into the vegetables. Increase heat to high and cook, stirring constantly, until fragrant, 10 minutes.

5.  Stir in ground meat and cook 10 minutes

6.  Remove from heat and stir in the lentils.

Nice.  And I applaud the "2 tablespoons" of minced garlic.  I get sad every time I see a recipe with garlic measured in teaspoons.

Leeesburg is getting quite the food scene.  Aside from Doener Bistro there's Señor Ramon Taqueria: https://www.yelp.com/biz/senor-ramon-taqueria-leesburg

That name clicked this story in my mind from a few weeks ago:

I had a great time in my short visit to Leesburg. Wouldn't mind going back at all, especially with all going up!

The whole Loudoun area is going up.    Some think too fast but up none the less.    Could be an urban legend but somebody told me the other day that with all the new tech/cloud/IT spots up and going up in Loudoun, 80% of all internet traffic will come through the county.

It's not wrong. Ashburn is essentially the heart of the internet. Would cause far more global disruption to target it with WMDs than DC, NY or pretty much any other single city.

Oh good.    :P

Missus and I ride out that way a lot and I was 'splainin' the place to her.    Went up to Pen-Mar and was 'splainin' Camp David as well.    That stuff bores the missus.     Got back in her good graces by stoppin' by an antique shop and South Mountain Creamery for ice cream.

How would one get to these "bacon reserves"?  Asking for a friend.

I assume through suppliers?

You're a better man than me.  I saw one of their signs along 70 and pulled off looking for it, must have driven 10 miles, left turn, right turn, etc etc and never did find the damn thing.  Needless to say it was the opposite of getting in her good graces.

http://www.msn.com/en-us/money/markets/nations-bacon-reserves-hit-half-century-low/ar-AAmu28c

Fake news.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/02/01/business/bacon-shortage.html?_r=0

Quote
...But the truth is this: The frozen reserves are just that — reserves. There will be no rationing at breakfast, or for your burgers (or B.L.T.s, or quiche, or roasted bacon-wrapped rabbit, or apples and ice cream. Not even for your bacon footballs this weekend.)

“To imply that there’s going to be some shortage of bacon is wrong,” said Steve Meyer, the vice president of pork analysis for EMI Analytics, in an interview as the bacon reports spread. “There’s plenty of hogs coming. There’s going to be plenty of bacon.”

Got our first Blue Apron meals today as a gift. Made some pasta shrimp thingy.  Amazing what directions can do for my non existent cooking skills.
