This is definitely true among my generation. Anecdotal, but one of my friends who just moved to Nashville refuses to go to chains to eat lunch or dinner. She only goes if we're on the road somewhere or it's got to be a super-quick thing. I don't really mind chains at all (love me some Cookout), but I generally avoid any and all chains if I can. Most kids my age are the same, too. Small sample size, but I believe it.

One of the few chains I've seen universally LOVED among my age group is Chik-Fil-A. All the others are hit-or-miss with people.
