If you start with a seven-man pen of:

Kelley
Glover
Treinen
Blanton
Solis
Perez
Romero

Blanton, Treinen, Romero, Perez, Solis can all probably throw an extra inning if need be.

You can go with an 8-man pen for the first couple of weeks of the season probably, and add a longer guy in there. If you can fit it it's nice to have a garbage arm like Worley/Guthrie you can pitch in a blowout that's nice. In general I like an 8-man pen, but I'm weird that way.

I'm afraid that's not as crazy as it looks at first blush.

Maybe I'm wrong but it doesn't look like they need a fifth starter until 4/12, then again on 4/23, so you can go pretty long with an 8-man pen. Especially if that eight spot is optionable.

In order for comedy to be truly effective it has to have an element of truth to it.

I think I wrote "crazy", not "comedy".     Ain't no humor in that.     :)

Werth loves working the count but all too often he watches pitches go right down the middle and then finishes by swinging at crap low and away.

He didn't do too well either. Nor did Drew.

We're in mid-season form.

Bleh. Dusty is dead set on Turner leading off. I'd rather see

Eaton
Turner
Murphy
Harper
Rendon
Werth
Zimmerman
Wieters

Guess he wants

Turner
Werth/Rendon
Murphy
Harper
Werth/Rendon
Eaton
Zimmerman
Wieters

He'd rather have balance for the bottom of the lineup than the top. I guess I can see that.

Matt Holiday and Pete Kozma on the yanks, no wonder we're losing today.
