Unbelievable.

Jeff Passan says it's arguably the greatest offensive performance in MLB history.

Shawn Green's 6-6 output with 4 homers was considered the top performance but he only had 7 RBI's in his game so Gennett's game is definitely up there.

Fred Lynn's line in this game was pretty good too, 5 for 6, 3 HRs and a triple, 10 RBI, as a rookie.

 4 HR's is > than 3 HRs plus a triple.

Orioles just walked off the Pirates.  Nats may beat them home tonight...

OK...not really...but not as far off as it may have been if Royce had kept running...  ;)

Reds swept the Cards. Seven losses in a row for the Cards. I hope Carp can get through the game tonight.

Mets refuse to lose...

Games maybe. Players, no.They wish they could refuse to lose players.   Harvey just DL'ed with shoulder issue, Walker is out with an ironic hamstring issue, and both are expected to miss a lot of time.
And they just announced that it will be at least 4 more weeks till Syndegaard even begins throwing, which would be maybe a September return.

Hunter Strickland's appeal was denied (has MLB ever done that before?!). He will begin serving his 6 games tonight.

Gleyber Torres out for the year with UCL surgery.  I guess that means Headley keeps the job unless the NYY want to get into a bidding war for Moustakas / Frazier.

The MLB is a slow moving apatosaurus of a bureaucracy. Yeah, it takes that long.

Such a bummer. I think they'll keep trotting out Headley at 3B if the team is still in 1st and look for help at 1B instead.

The Phillies bullpen has just given up 7 runs to the cardinals.

7 runs in one inning.

The 11th inning.

Ouch.

why is it that, when I see this, I have a bit of sadness, not for the Phillies, but for the fact that this must bring great joy to Cardinals fans.  "You know, those Phillies played us hard, but you have to have faith in the quality of your organization and your team, but not so much faith as to sound as superior to other groups of fans because that just wouldn't be modest."

It's truly a privilege to lose to the Cards. Their fans are so superior in every way.
