Maybe they are all fine, but they read like that catalog from the Seinfeld show, overly wordy to justify the high price. Just off a buck and give me a basic IPA or lager.

The port city is a very good very basic IPA

[...]The craft brew industry in DC is booming and people go out of their way for the local stuff, either because some of the local breweries have an almost cult-like following or because people don't like putting money in InBev's pocket.[...]

...trouble is, a lot of these cradt breweries (either actual or self-styled) are already owned by InBev (Goose Island, Virginia Brewing Co etc).

The new Devil's Backbone stand at 301 had one line being served.  I like their Vienna Lager, but not enough to wait 30 minutes for one.

That's a decent beer, I keep it in stock for those who like lighter beers.  But agreed I wouldn't wait very long in line for the privilege.

On the other hand, if it was DB's Danzig Porter..... :glug:

With respect to the food lines, my go-to place that always has a short line is the sushi bar in the Club.  I had a first pitch to get to, no time to screw around.

Yep but I think that is the point of the District Drafts stands, all local, all independents.

That's where we ate on OD. The sushi is always at least acceptable, and it doesn't seem as overpriced as, say, a hot dog.

About the Opening Day queues generally - they were apparently so outrageous that they were mentioned yesterday on both WMAL and WTOP news radio - can't recall this happening previously.

That peppercorn saison is fantastic, and is probably one of 3 Stars signature beers. It doesn't taste like black pepper but it does have just a little bite to it, so it's super crisp, which is kind of unusual in a saison.

I can second this one. Have had it at Leesburg Public House, which tends to have a pretty fantastic beer selection. I intended on trying at least two different beers that night. Instead, three of the peppercorn saisons.

Yes. When the eCash line takes 2 innings, you know things are really bad. That being said, they probably could have worked out a lot of first day kinks at the exhibition against the Red Sox, but unfortunately that was cancelled. I blame a lot of the snafu on that (I hope). Or at least to the degree that people are saying it's worse than previous years.
I'm glad they had yesterday off. So hopefully they will tighten the ship.

The Sports Bog reported that the lines were worse than ever, so these guys piggy backed on that. Apparently the first opening day for any of them.

Sort of like an airline giving the bum's rush to the gold and silver card holders of its loyalty scheme - not a good way to do business.

Still way on the low side for average payroll over the years under current ownership.

$55MM is two Boras clients that will play in a combined 65 games, if we are lucky.

Red Sox only give out 12,000 of each bobblehead. Now that's cheap.  Them Sox tickets are pricey!
They do have 6 bobbleheads and a hat this year but we have 4 bobbleheads, a snow globe, a beer stein and a hat, so it's not like they are cutting quantity to increase variety.

Nats used to give out 15K, I believe, and they upped it about two years ago or so. Big difference in how early you have to get there.

The Stellas were definitely $10.50. More than the price of a six pack in the store. It's just wrong.

Team is now worth $1.6 billion, an increase of $1.15 billion since the purchase in 2006. But those cheap freaks think that it's fine to charge $10.50 for a Stella and still go into the season with no long man and no closer.

Most people looked at the United Airlines incident and thought "what a terrible way to do business". Ted Lerner is richer than all of us put together because his first thought was "overbooking!".

Show up 20 minutes after first pitch and you don't deserve a parking space...the plane would have already left as well...

...and if you are a FS SPH...get better parking for god's sake...
