Mike Greenberg is leaving the Mike and Mike show to host a morning show on ESPN.  Trey Wingo is the likely replacement

Does anyone actually watch or listen to them anyways?

I do from time to time, but not more than once a month.

I haven't listened to people talking on the radio since the mid-2000s, when I got sick of Don and Mike.

I listened but invariably changed when they went off about what a weakling Greeny is or what a dum dum Golic is, they went way overboard with the nonsense.  I was wondering if Golic's younger son wasn't going to take over, they could keep it Mike and Mike that way

The SI article mentioned the possibility of a new show with Golic Jr.

Ah ok not surprised, I figured they were grooming him for something like that.  To be fair I thought I'd hate him for some reason but he seems to do a good job.

I thought the definition of a sports talk show was discussing the same topic for 4 hours by making the same 4 or 5 comments using as many different combination of words as is humanly possible.

Whatever. Every time I tried to listen to them, it was in commercial.

I have always hated that show.  I first, I thought it was Greenburg that was bringing it down, but it is clearly Golic.  He drones on and on, and repeats everything that he says over and over again.

Kind of like watching the NFL.

ESPN is collapsing.  I get the sense that they are either performing a hard reset or that they will be going out of business.

I kind of thought they might be going under too but they just signed Greeny to a big fat contract so I think it might be more the reset.

Ain't that the truth. They could jack up the price of park tickets to $1,000/day and that place would still be jam packed.

ESPN's business model is dependent on subscribers and subscriber growth. If people continue to "cut the cord" (and they will), ESPN will have to address that and generate a new business model.

Me personally, I'd pay a few bucks per month for access to ESPN's live streams and archives.

I think someone did the math a while ago on espn a la cart, and they needed people who said they'd be willing to pay to pay something like $30 a month. The big problem with streaming is that leagues were smart enough to retain those rights- no need for espn to take a slice if they're selling a channel through Amazon/apple/roku

The new services such as Sling TV and Playstation Vuse have ESPN also.

Maybe they can revert back their roots, being a New England Sports Network.
