Them the breaks. "New" 2xLPs are at least $25 starting, sadly. Most more. Beatles uptick too = $40. Still very pricy, but not the $140 I thought it was. That was the CD box set  :icon_question:

I went to the basement aka man cave and pulled out the album looking for a price tag.    Didn't find one but the album still sounds pretty nice.   :)

The new roger waters album is now available for streaming via amazon prime. It sounds an awful lot like the wall.

Goodness, do I like Graham Parker, especially up through Squeezing Out the Sparks.

This is Heat Treatment, live.  This is how bands looked when they cleaned up in the 70s.

Ice Cube made a new single

If Cube returned to rap full time, he'd be the best in the game and it wouldn't even be close. They just don't make em like that anymore.

LOL, not even close. He'd be just like Dre -- making good, but not great or riveting, music.

Bono

Wasn't he married to Cher?    ;)    On a serious note, I never got the fascination with that cat or U2.    :old:

Oh that band was soooo good early on, listen to "Boy" or "War" even "October" had moments, he was just such a passionate singer I freaking loved him.  It's funny though, "Joshua Tree" and all the albums that came after War that were crazy popular never did a thing for me, but man those first three were some killer records.

There are groups/acts that I can listen to and never understand the mass appeal.    They're technically good.    The vocals are solid but I just don't get it.       At this late point in my life, I've come to the conclusion that I'm not a fan nor do I have enough time left to become one.   :)

Sounds of innocence was absolutely fantastic. Loved rattle and hum as well.

Where the Streets Have No Name will always have a special appeal to me.  I was taking a cab from Tel Aviv to Ben Gurion / Lod Airport at about 4 in the AM, and we had gone past the loop road outside Tel Aviv and into the undeveloped patch of rocks and desert, literally on a road that was designated with a number and not a name, and the song comes on.   It will always have the feel of being out in a desolate area.

U2 developed a fascination with America, its cities and its landscapes, that you start to hear in Joshua Tree (of course) but which continued in some great songs.  I particularly love "New York."

WBCN, I think Carter Allen, really was the first station to play them, and with the Irish connection, they are enormously popular there.

I would never have known that was U2 if you hadn't posted this...or any other song for that matter...

I've been listening to Achtung Baby this afternoon, but this is getting to be the wrong thread.  I forgot how good of an album that one is.  The Edge is just incredible on it.  I guess I am Bizarro Mitlen.

Never been a huge U2 fan but they have written some very good songs.  "Angel of Harlem" may be my favorite since it gives a a little salute to Coltrane, Miles & Billie Holiday.

I had front row seats for Miles Davis in college...1972.  He was clearly annoyed at having to play to an audience of nothing but teenage/20-something white, suburban kids...

I did dig his music...still do...

Coincidentally...while on the Miles topic...Buddy Miles' "Them Changes" is timeless...for me, anyway...

Got out of the Army and was ridin' with some old friends.     Driver was a vet and had a 1966 Buick Riviera.     So, we're ridin' up to Aliquippa for a night of dancin' at the Lebanese Club.     On comes this tape (bettin' it was an 8 track) and I asked, "Man, who f*** is that?"     It was Buddy Miles  ...  "Well my mind is goin' through them changes."    I still have the album in the man cave.

It was, and remains, good stuff...

The new Styx album The Misssion is very good. Much more like their pieces of eight era than their newer, more pop stuff.  Radio Silence is easily the best track IMHO. If you are a fan of the Tommy Shaw side of Styx you'll like it.

I've been on a Joshua Tree kick this week since we went to the concert Tuesday at FedEx. The last two songs ("Exit" and "Mothers of the Disappeared") have never done much for me, but it sure was interesting to listen to them play it live 30 years later and to hear Bono talk about some of the songs, especially "In God's Country." I still love "One Tree Hill" more than just about any other U2 song.

I put the album on Wednesday night while cleaning up from dinner and when my wife heard "Where the Streets Have No Name," she said, "Didn't they play this song last night?" (Duh!)

As an aside, out of 50,000+ people there, we found ourselves sitting next to someone she knew but had not seen in four years, a lady who grew up in Sarajevo. Made it all the more poignant when the encore opened with "Miss Sarajevo," although the video board showed scenes of Syria during the song.

Dan Snyder can freak off, BTW: Parking was $60 cash. Only positive about that is that it's a good time to break a $100 bill without protest from the person you're paying.
