So what's the real skinny with Mitchell Page? ...

Welcome wpa. We just got a break on that ball going foul.

Apparently he is dealing with a personal issue. It's not work or performance related. Let's hope it's not serious or alcohol related.

WOW we're hitting the ball hard tonight. That probably cost us a base though.

Ladson's article indicated that it was alcohol-related, although no one in the Nats organization will say anything.

Paige is apparently an alcoholic, which Bowden knew when he was hired.

EDIT: A posting on another thread insists it is NOT alcohol related, but that he's lost feeling in his arm.

He's been very ineffective since he came here, although his former colleagues with the Cardinals speak well of him....  The Cardinals hitting is now as bad as ours this year.  I was going to recommend replacing Paige.  This team is starting to look like a soap opera.  What will be the next reason for someone to leave?

The Marlins can hit, but they can be shut down.  Our pitching is better, so let's take the series.

Nationals 1
Marlins 0

That sucks. If that's the case we may not see him back for a while. I hate to see someone fall off the wagon to where it could affect his life.

The timing is what gets me though. Could it be coincidence that we're hitting so poorly or did we drive him to drink with our 'pour' hitting?

So Chief's grandmother passed away. Too bad for Chief. He should be rejoining the team on Monday.

I used to look out for an alcoholic when he went on binges.  The health danger is that they're starving themselves when alcohol becomes their entire diet on a binge.  I brought him food, but the binge couldn't last much longer than a week.  They are much more sensitive to things going wrong, but keep it inside.  Usually a bunch of things seemingly pile up.  The horrible hitting and any comments from Bowden or Acta would definitely have affected him.  He'll survive but this team hasn't hit well since he arrived.

EDIT: He insists in another thread that it is NOT an alcohol or substance problem.  There's a comment about him losing feeling in his arm, which sounds like a serious problem he does need to address immediately.  Get well, Mitchell!

I already have a good impression of his replacement, Lenny Harris.  He looked at tape before the team was here and was working on problems immediately.  That's EXACTLY what we needed NOW.  And I wouldn't be in ANY hurry to switch back to Paige.  Sorry, but he's wasn't getting the job done.

It said that it is unlikely that Paige will return.

Looks like we are doing well so far.  4 hits up on the Fish, no errors and they have 0 hits with 1 error.

Now if we can only add on some runs!  GO NATS!!!

They are losing it!  Come on Nats!  We have to capitalize on their lack of good play!

The Marlins look like we have defensively.  2 errors and a passed ball.  I wonder if someone in Miami is claiming that a cat died?

Kearns out on a base running error - DP on a fly ball.
