the story goes into how his house in the Lower 9 was flooded 15' by Katrina, but that he managed to ride it out on the 3d floor until rescue.

I always associate "Ain't that a Shame" with Cheap Trick at the Budokan, which is probably appalling to those who know his version.  He's far enough before my time that I did not get just how many records he sold at his peak.

So much - just start with the Beatles.  Then include Elton John & Bruce Springsteen.  The list keeps going

I used to read Liz Smith in the NY Daily News on Sundays when I was young, I could never get enough gossip and she was truly the queen for awhile.

Bobby Doerr, 99.  Former Red Sox 2d baseman, teammate and long time friend of Ted Williams, Johnny Pesky, and Dom DiMaggio.
http://www.latimes.com/local/obituaries/la-me-bobby-doerr-20171114-story.html

Quote
Bobby Doerr played for years alongside Boston Red Sox greats Ted Williams, Johnny Pesky and Dom DiMaggio, and while Williams was the era’s dominant hitter and Pesky and DiMaggio captured the hearts of Boston’s fans, the steady, genial Doerr was the glue that held the 1940s team together as it revived long-buried dreams of baseball glory at Fenway Park.

Described by Williams, his Red Sox teammate and close friend, as the team’s “silent captain,” Doerr played 14 seasons for Boston, beginning in 1937, when he had just turned 19. He was considered one of the best offensive second basemen of his era, driving in 100 or more runs six times in his career.

A nine-time All-Star second baseman for the Red Sox, Doerr, who had been the oldest living member of the Baseball Hall of Fame, died Monday at 99.

Great statue outside Fenway of the Teammates.  None have 7 arms.

Unbelievable scumbag.

Next in the queue, David Cassidy?

We should also note that Mohammad Ali's ring doctor Ferdie Pacheco passed away yesterday.

Robert D. Raiford, the "curmudgeon-at-large" on the John Boy and Billy Show, died Friday at age 89.

The time he read the bit about "felching" remains a classic.

David Cassidy

Quote
‘Partridge Family’ star David Cassidy, who was a teen heartthrob, dies at 67
By Washington Post Staff November 21 at 9:17 PM
Cassidy rose to fame playing Keith Partridge in the 1970s TV show about a musical family. Cassidy said earlier this year that he was struggling with memory loss, and he announced that he was ending his 50-year career.

The actor and singer had struggled with substance abuse and bankruptcy in the decades following his initial success. His father was Tony-winning actor Jack Cassidy, and he was the stepson of actress and fellow “Partridge Family” star Shirley Jones.
