Whoa whoa whoa. Calm down. Common sense isn't allowed in here.

Freaking off and jumping off bridges before the season even starts is the way to go.
Already jumped off the bridge. We needed two upper tier relievers this offseason and we got none. If we make the playoffs, that'll be more than what I hoped for. But in the end, the pen and Dusty will freak us in the playoffs

If the closer to start the season isn't Blake Treinen, you will know errors have been made.  (key phrase:  to start the season)

Why would thd Yanks bother? They can wait two years, get under the luxury tax, and have a fantastic team to surround him and Machdo on 2019

Ugh.  I didn't even think about Machado.

That's depressing.     :(

Consider the bright side: He won't be with the Orioles.

Machado is the perfect Yankee. Pretty boy full of himself who will whine and cry like a nag. He even plays the same position as A-Rod. It's a perfect match.

You mean Harper? Except for the position.  That's why he and Manny are best buddies.

Harper doesn't act like a punk nag because he got tagged too hard.

Give him time. He is still young.

If the lynch pin to Robertson is Severino, then I think this deal gets done.

I'm thinking Severino and Norris.

Speculates that Norris will go to Chicago now as part of a deal for Robertson.

This is where that entire article goes in the toilet:

"Robertson is set to make $25 million over the two seasons remaining on his contract.  Washington will not mind paying that price for a guy who could vault them into World Series contention."   :hysterical:

They made big offers for other closers this off-season.

They already balked at taking on Robertson's $25MM when they were dealing for Eaton though...

Shrug. Different point in the season, different options, maybe they don't have to pay it all if they trade Norris. Who knows.

There's no way Chicago can't get better than salary relief and Derek Norris for Robertson.  They are in a rebuild so they will want good prospect since we don't have spare starting prospects anymore.  Norris, Glover and Stevenson, or maybe Norris, Soto, and Ollie Perez (frees cash).

$24M is alot of salary relief.

Norris is due to make $4.2 million this year, he's arbitration eligible in 2018.  So if they do a straight-up Norris for Robertson trade, that gets them about $6 million in salary relief in 2017, and potentially much more in 2018 assuming they cut Norris loose (or maybe they keep him if he bounces back).

I'd think that's a deal the White Sox would accept.

Yup. José can probably clear waivers at this point too.

Can't find it now but one of the beat reporters said that Robertson deal was done weeks ago and ownership nixed it.

Is the offseason done? Last I checked the season hasn't started yet and Rizzo can still add to the pen..

Robertson will be just fine. Kelly is one of the better relievers in the game and perfect for the 8th inning. Solis, Treinen and Glover and 3 of the better young relievers and we have Perez and a half dozen other guys vying for thr 7th spot.

We will he just fine.

I believe Robertson was included in the agreement between the While Sox and Rizzo,  but the White Sox were not going to eat any of his salary, so that part fell through.
