Adams had an ERA over 9 last season

That's actually a DIFFERENT Austin Adams, if you can believe that. That one is with Cleveland. The one we are getting is a pretty decent RP prospect, looks like.

And McGowin looks like a Clippard type? SP who is never gonna nag to reach the majors and needs to become a RP? Might sit mid-90s in short stints if he can reach back for that as a SP. Hopefully 1/2 becomes a serviceable mL RP and that's a great return for one year of a Danny.

God speed sweet prince. May the wind from your bat propel you across the seas.

He had no real role with us moving forward. This was inevitable. We needed pitching depth, and badly. This helps.

Espinosa is overrated defensively. He does have a cannon of an arm, but he makes a ton of mistakes in the field.

Espi had the glove. Too bad he just couldn't get on base consistently. I won't miss those huge swings he takes with two strikes on him. Is it really that hard to shorten up your swing?

Oh I see. So it's an even better trade?

Clippers type in that he isn't very good as a SP. He doesn't have the same change. Does have a fantastic hard slider.

What is his role with the Angels? They still have Simmons, right?

Mark Lerner:  Mike...get rid of Danny...I don't care if all you get is a bag of balls for him.
Mike Rizzo:  I can do that, bossman...

They will probably bring their bestest friend, Cash Considerations, to the party. Plus, Rivero, Treinen and Roark were all unknown journeyman pitching prospects with unimpressive records so maybe rizzo senses Something.

We stand corrected:

#Nationals acquire Kyle McGowin from #Angels as part of Danny Espinosa trade. McGowin was No. 20 on Halos' Top 30: http://atmlb.com/1Sv3THI

20 in the Angels system isn't top 50 in anyone else's.

And this matters how? Espinosa's glove is overrated by DRS where UZR says he is very slightly above average. UZR seems to think Difo is a fine replacement, and one who can be fine getting league minimum off the bench. You don't expect to get anything back for a guy getting 5 Million to basically play average defense with a "rocket arm" and strikeout in nearly 30% of his at bats.

Interesting timing, it was on this day exactly a year ago Escobar was traded to the Angels.
