There is literally nobody in this lineup I'm worried about.  Wieters is more than fine at the plate for a catcher batting 8th.  A lot of teams would be happy having him hit 5th or 6th.  Rendon is off to a slow start, but his whole 1st half was this way last year then he was lights out in the 2nd half.  Tony 2 Bags will hit in the long run if he's healthy.  If Werth can avoid any major injury and Dusty keeps him rested when he needs it then I think we're going to milk one last solid offensive year out of him.  It also looks like we can milk quite a bit of production still out of Zim, and hopefully playing 1B keeps him healthier as he finishes his cotnract into his mid-30s.

Rendon didn't hit his first home run last year until May 3rd. (I was at that game in Kansas City!)

So...can we label him a bust at this point?   :couch:

Some people love to complain, so since Face is raking, Rendon will become the whipping boy and guy Rizzo needs to send packing.  At that point he'll start to hit.

I want to see Rendon go nuts this year and and finish above .800 in OPS. He had that bad start last season and ended up right about .800 to end the season. The gap between his 2016 and his Silver Slugger 2014 season isn't large.

If he gets going this season and has another .800+ OPS season I'll be very happy. Even if Harper leaves, if we go into 2019 with Rendon, Turner, and Eaton that's a solid core you can build around.

I've seen absolutely none of that. I really haven't seen anyone concerned about Rendon not snapping out of it. There's been no indication of any injury either.

I dunno...when he goes to the plate now, I see 3Kespi v.2017...

Not the K rate, per se...just the overall lack of production, and the errors in the field.    He's our weak link right now...

He's been charged with 2 errors in 20 games.  That's 16 in a year.  Danny had 18 E's last year.

Ant'ny has Okie-Doke'd more than that...after all...baseball is slow and boring.

Blow it off if you will, but look at the lineup...he's the current weak link...

Not sure what you're getting at.  Predicting errors for the year doesn't work by just taking a ratio through a small sample like 20 games.  Not that errors alone are a great way to evaluate how good a defender a guy is.  That's about like looking at ERA alone to evaluate a pitcher.  Also, Espi played short stop so it's not apples to apples...and Espi was a good defender.  Nobody complained about his glove.

My point is that he's been as disappointing as 3Kespi had been in the past so far this year.  Not that hard to understand...he comes to the plate and you can almost book an automatic out...and he's lazy in the field.

Lazy in the field?  WTF are you talking about?  Rendon had 3 hits 2 nights ago...not exactly an automatic out.

Got him all the way up to .231   .310   .256   .567   .  That's not exactly an impressing corner infielder slash line.

Again...he's been the weak link so far...

I don't see him as a weak link. He hasn't been great this week, and he had a rough first week, but in between he hit almost .300. He's been fine. He will be fine.

If we have to designate a weak link, right now it'd be Wieters who hasn't done a damn thing in about two weeks.

It's April.  Any kind of slump and your overall numbers are trash.  I guess some of you expect all 8 guys to hit at once?  Rendon has always produced in the long run when he was in the lineup and not on the DL.  Wieters is a #8 hitter and catcher.  He's also a proven consistent hitter in his career.  Not Mike Piazza, but he's more than adequate for a 8-hole C.

With his .254 .353 .390 .743?  Tony has a long way just to get there...and Weiters is in the 8 hole.  Maybe Tony needs to drop to 8 until he gets it together...

Wieters has been dropping like a rock. Sub .160 the past two weeks. You're the one adamant about ascribing a weak link. I don't really see one right now.
