I'm trying to think when (if ever) there was a team with HFA in the Superbowl.
No team has ever played a Super Bowl in it's home stadium.

There have been a handful of California based teams that have played in it when the game was played in the state somewhere. The Rose Bowl hosted one that the LA Rams played in. Stanford hosted one the Niners played in. The Oakland Raiders played a couple in the Rose Bowl. That's as close as you're gonna get. Atlanta played in it the year before they hosted it once, too. I didn't research it beyond that. I wonder if there were any times when a team made it to the conference finals only to lose?

It technically wasn't HFA, but the LA Rams playing in the Rose Bowl might as well have been a home game.  That would be like the Nationals playing a game at FedEx Field or something.

Each team should send a tribute to battle it out, hunger games-style. Winning team gets their league home field.

Steelers going to Detroit in 2006 was basically a home game. (against Seattle)

If they adopt this, everyone immediately tries to sign Cespedes.

With this fanbase, if they let the fans fight for it we're freaked.

If you make the neutral site Tampa or Miami you'll never have to worry about HFA anyway....

Depends.  If it's a battle of wills to see who the truest fans are we can send _sturt_ and BiL.    :stir:

We as nationals fans shouldn't be making those kinds of jokes.

Interleague record makes as much sense as the winner of the ASG.
total league vs. total league record, to correct for imbalances in the pennant winners' interleague schedule.

The argument against it is that the TV networks and the teams in the playoffs want to know the schedule of the WS before the end of the year.  Seems a little strange because they don't know the actual cities until after the LCSes anyway.

I didn't realize that _sturt_ was a douchebag of BiL proportions.

Think of all the good home field advantage has done for the Nationals.

Because schedules are unbalanced- why reward a team in a terrible division?
So the winner of one single game that's basically a popularity contest is better?

Am I the only person who likes the All Star Game home field rule? The quality of All Star games has really improved dramatically since 2002.

See, I think All Star Game voting has actually gotten much more meritocratic since this rule was enabled. Players from teams like Kansas City or Washington win election to the ASG now...it's no longer just all the Yankees and Red Sox.
