Seemed like they had that with Nene in the past, and Gortat this year, but I haven't followed them closely enough to know.  It was a good series, they hung with the #1 team in the east for the right to lose to Cleveland. :)

Boston (and Atlanta to some degree) exposed Gortat.

I think Phil really likes Beal because he reminds him of  ....  Chenier (#45).

It was a good run, I'm not sure what else they need to make that leap to the next level.

In the end they had no gas in the tank. Bench scoring:

Celtics 48

They need to look at ways to trade for PG13 or Melo.

Because melo has such outstanding playoff success

Stick with Porter and this core, then. Lets see where that takes them.

Nowhere, just the same as adding melo. Until lebron fades or leaves, they aren't getting out of the east no matter what they do

Heres the list of teams that have made/won a Finals in the past 5 years:

Miami, SA, OKC, CLE, GSW

So every team and player outside of them shouldn't be traded for? Is CP3 not worth it because he hasn't made it to a conference final?

Or trade for Melo, and you get your needed wing scorer, and you open up full max salary potentially when his and other contracts come off the books in 2019. An you'll probably get him for Porter and not much else.

They should explore ways to get a real second option/first scoring option.

I heard that on the post game and thought I misheard it.

IMHO  Porter will be a money decision.    Our offer will be too low for various reasons.    Sound familiar?     For goodness sakes  ... NO to Melo.

Nah, they need to figure out a way to unload Gortat and/or Morris, keep Otto Porter, and sign DeMarcus Cousins after next season ends. Or Kevin Durant.

The problem with relying on outside shooting is that sometimes it goes cold.  Wall missed a bunch of outside shots down the stretch.  It will eventually undo the Celtics, too, probably should have earlier in the series.  Maybe the Wiz could have fed Beal more, which is what Barkley said on TNT/TBS.  Maybe Wall should have turned down some outside shots and driven more.

I also thought the interview with KO had something interesting. When he was asked about the offense in the 4th quarter, he said that with Thomas drawing so much attention, it was essentially 4 on 3 for much of the quarter, so he was getting good looks when he got the ball.

Wall is terrific, but the series is one that got away. I think it was progress for the Wizards, but not as much DC fans wanted.  The Wizards need depth and some different looks so if one thing isn't working, there's a plan B.

That won't clear enough for a max deal next summer.

I agree though that they should do whatever it takes to carve out max space for next summer - starting with letting Porter walk.

It ain't my money but  ...  Ted ought to offer Wall a number 2 all-NBA roster offer now.
