GCL Nationals
I'd be very surprised if he does anything this late into the season (MiLB year is done in early Sept. and he's just getting rehab starts), but maybe.
Yeah, maybe he eats some innings in Sept. I'd rather have Ross back and starting if he's gonna be the guy down the stretch, but I guess a BP role for him isn't bad either. We'll see. Worth keeping an eye on him. Speaking of old scrub SPs: Arroyo hasn't pitched since getting a rehab start on 7/2. Can't recall what was said about that.
He pitched today and will more likely pitch next week replacing Cole until Stras is back and then stay in the rotation if Giolito is limited to innings or does not perform.
Kinda think AJ Cole has earned another start .. .
6IP, 7H, 1ER, 0BB, 4Ks in his start yesterday. I'd take that over Giolito or Cole right now.
Good start two nights ago: 6 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 K
Can we unlock the Giolito thread? Decent outing tonight: 6.2, 7 hits, 0 er, 2bb, 7ks. Bryan Harper threw 1.1 perfect with two ks.
Triple A don't mean crap
I read somewhere that if he isn't on the 25 man by tomorrow, he can opt out, go elsewhere.
You are correct:http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/08/nationals-face-roster-decision-on-mat-latos.htmlMatt Grace seems to be the most likely person to cut if the Nats choose to keep Latos.
http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/08/nationals-to-add-mat-latos-to-active-roster.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebookLatos has agreed to extending his deadline to Sept 1 in exchange for a promise of being a September call up.
so now they hav to clear a 49-man slot. Moving Ross to the 60 day might make sense.
Don't think it will be Ross. They will need him even if just as a reliever to start with. Latos will replace either Cole or Gio (more likely) as a starter. They could possibly drop Martin or put Drew on 60 day if they think he cannot make it back this year (unless he is already on the list, not sure).
Someone said Ross could be backdated to his last appearance, which was on 7/2/16. It would not mean extra time on the DL. Stephen Drew last appeared on 7/23, so putting him on the 60 day would keep him out until about the last 10 days of the season.
