Musings on the Brewers Series (6/24-26)
« Topic Start: June 23, 2016, 03:20:41 PM »
Hopefully we can bounce back.  Probables:

Scherzer vs Davies
Gio vs Garza
Strasburg (or Petit) vs Nelson

All the Brewer starters have been stellar in their last few starts.   Sigh...

I think I know who you're referring to  :az:

We have to win this series. Would love to see Scherzer dominate(he was good his last start but too pitch inefficient), Gio bounce back, and Stras show he's healthy and still in top form.

IIRC we've always hit well in Miller Park, so hopefully the bats can get going again too. We racked up hits the last few games but were just terrible with RISP. Should fluctuate back to normalcy.

But we don't have Josh Willingham any more.

Her too.   :)    I'm also amazed at how well the people of Wisconsin eat.    They don't miss many meals.

went to a GB packers playoff game a few winters ago (GB vs. NYG). easily the comfort food capital of the world. cheese curds and bratwurst. I regretted nothing.

Any word or indication yet on whether Strasburg will pitch Sunday?  And if not, who?

We went to a Brewers game last summer in Milwaukee, and the food specialty of the house was something called "bratchos" - a popcorn bucket filled with kettle potato chips topped with sausage, cheese sauce, sour cream, jalapeños, and sauerkraut. We always try the house specialty when we visit other ballparks, so we gamely got them. Hubby and I split an order, and after that we were so disgustingly full that we skipped that night's dinner and the next day's breakfast - it was 22 hours before either one of us could even think of eating again. Yet we saw people downing those things.  The good part about the game is that the Brewers actually beat the Cardinals that day - I thoroughly enjoyed that part!

I have family in Wisconsin so I've spent a lot of time there. The food culture, especially in the smaller towns and farming communities, is largely centered on cheese, fried food and fatty meats, and vegetables and salads are minimized. You really have to hunt on a restaurant menu to find something not cheesy, fried or meaty. There's an amazing amount of obesity there. Just in the past two years I've had two cousins who live there drop dead of heart attacks - both only in their early 50's and both morbidly obese.  It's really sad.   I'm no skinny Minnie - I'm packing a good 10 pounds I don't need, but out there I feel positively svelte.

Cheese curds are pretty good, we had them the one time we made it to a game at miller park.  And yes, my wife asked the beer guy if they had anything other than Miller products. :)

Busch Stadium is similar, at least in their Rich Dude seats (Whatever their equivalent of Lexus/Diamond seats is called). It's kind of awful to pay top dollar for the posh, all-inclusive seats and be given a choice of Bud, Bud Light or Bud Select. I still don't know WTF Bud Select is.

Coors does sell Coors/Coors Light, but there's a great selection of beer to be had (even the vendors carrying throughout the park). Great park.

Zim is still creeping downward in the lineup. Revere is still at the top though...

Very different (I prefer Miller). Bud uses rice as an adjunct grain. Miller uses corn.  (Now that I've said that you'll definitely taste it.)

or Budweiser? same really.
