Adam McInturff @2080adamHere’s my last report update of the year on #Nationals Carter Kieboom, including Instructs+AFL looks. Think the sum-of-the-parts gives FV 60 upside at peak: playable glove at SS who can hit .275 with 20+ HRs. Top 30 prospect in baseball
Zuck notes Kieboom closed out the AFL with a .295 batting average, .427 on-base percentage and 18 runs in 21 AFL games over the last month. He also drew 17 walks to lead the league."http://www.masnsports.com/nationals-pastime/2018/11/carter-kieboom-wraps-up-strong-afl-season.htmlThey need to get him over to 2B ASAP.
I assume the plan for Kieboom is to start him at 2b at Harrisburg and call him up as soon as he’s ready.
I'd assume he'll play some 2B, but from what I've seen of him, he looks like he can play a passable SS. The usual approach with dudes like that is to have them keep playing both - the Dodgers are doing that with their version of Kieboom (same age, same round, same draft class, similar questions as to SS fit and position being blocked). For example, Kieboom could well be the answer if Turner goes out for an extended period. Having him play 2B every day makes that a lot harder.
He can play 3B when Rendon leaves after next year.

too soon to get giddy?
No. He should be great in Harrisburg this year. And maybe Fresno. Maybe if Dozier gets hurt you will see him in DC.
Bring him up!
Or, you know, don't start his service time on a lost season?
FWIW, Kieboom was held out of his start at Fresno last night.
Batting .154 so far. I know. Small sample size.
