Made his return from injury tonight in the GCL.

Went 2 for 2 with a couple of RBIs.

  • Platoon - not just a movie, a baseball obsession
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/nationals-journal/wp/2017/07/31/minor-league-monday-how-a-pack-of-baseball-cards-inspired-carter-kieboom/?utm_term=.5a43470ef1ad

In addition to his baseball progress, the article discusses his work for a kidney research foundation that he found out about on a youtube of man in need of a donor opening a baseball card pack with Kieboom in it, as well as some more important news.

The article notes that, to date, the Nats have not traded a 1st round pick that Rizzo used on a position player.

Heyman called him a "big-time shortstop prospect".

His numbers as a 20-year-old SS in A-ball are damn impressive.

We have a hole to fill at 2B in 2019.

He's probably Rendon's replacement.

Got three years to worry about that.

I need him to step it up so he's ready to replace Murphy in 2019. :)

I got him confused with his brother, who is coming up to the Show.

There’s a third one too, who’s still in college and may end up becoming an agent rather than playing. Carter is supposed to be the best Kieboom, but Spencer’s bat has really come around recently.

He’s been on a tear the last 2 weeks. Seems to be back on track.

Kieboom may be knocking on the door for a promotion soon. He’s 3-3 so far tonight, raising his average to .293 on the year. That’s also puts him 20-37(.541) over his last 10 games. 9 of 10 games have been multi hit, 6 walks to 5 Ks.

And you guys laughed at me when I said he could replace Murphy in 2019. :)

I think the biggest question is can his defense play at short, or does he lack the range?

We don’t need him at short. We need him at second.

Defensively, Turner is nothing special at short. He'd be better at second if Kieboom can play above average defense at short. Whoever is the better defender should play the position.
