Stole the StL Browns?  They were averaging about 4000 fans a game.

You can't steal another city's team any more than you can steal someone's girlfriend. They come of their own volition.

The Browns left StL because the Cardinals had the city all wrapped up.  The move to Baltimore had a Bill "Cheap" Veeck all over it.

I googled it.

But I dislike hearing people say that Texas and Minnesota stole Washington's teams because it also says that we stole Montreal's team. And that's just not the case.

Bill Veeck wanted to move the Browns to KC, Would have been a good move...same state. However, the AL owners refused...wanted Veeck to sell the team.

Veeck in his book said he wanted to move to Milwaukee, but the Boston Braves owners had the rights to it.
