Man I'd kill for Chapman. What would we do then with Paps? Just DFA his ass? 

Papelbon isn't due anymore money after this season, and my guess is that moving 5 Million (by the trade deadline) won't be that hard. Heck, if the IF solution is to just DFA Drew, then letting go of Papelbum won't be that hard to swallow.

At the beginning of the season I said Pap will be replaced by Rivero or some other young gun before Memorial Day or the Nats will pick up a closer at the trade deadline. I stand by that.

Miller please

Which prospects are you willing to give up for Miller? I have a feeling that the yankees would want Lopez and Robles for Miller. Possibly one more good prospect too. If the yankees make Miller available, some team will be willing to pay a lot for him. The nats typically don't trade away elite prospects so I don't see a deal for Miller happening. I'd love to get him too, but I'm trying to be realistic in what it would take to acquire him.

I bet they would get more for Miller than Chapman, since he is locked up for another two years at low cost. Chapman is probably the target.

Well , I did a little research and found that he has nine 1-2-3 innings out of 24 games that he has appeared. Pretty piss poor in my estimation. Seems he is following in the foot steps of Soriano

carrying on the tradition of the Nats Coronary Closer, started by none other than The Chief.  I'm going to guess that, out of the guys who were closers for multiple years (Cordero, Storen, Soriano, Papelbon), Storen had the highest % of clean innings.

I had a dream last night where the Nats were leading the Phillies 6-4 and Papelbon gave up a 2-run homer in the bottom of the 9th. But then I looked at the scoreboard again and the Nats were leading 15-6...I guess the score can change like that in a dream. It can't in reality.

I liked the Papelbon trade when it happened and defended Papelbon over Storen for many months, even when Papelbon did terrible things in the clubhouse. I feel I can no longer defend Papelbon: not because he is a douche or because he choked Harper or anything like that, but because his appearances are increasingly Storen-like.

I miss Chief. At least he was likeable. He had some pretty Houdini like performances in 2005.

This is exhibit A for why win-loss records for relievers are not worth very much.  You shouldn't get a win if your team was behind when you left the game.

The win is the worst stat in baseball. You can get a win giving up no runs or five runs. It makes no sense to count wins as a reliable stat on how a pitcher pitches.

I can't imagine relying on Papelbon as we get into high leverage situations later in the season. It's definitely a big hole on the team.
