Mets shut out 1-0 by the Phillies! Howard homered for the only run.  :hysterical:

DeGrom will miss a start with Lat tightness. Also his velocity was down his first start.

Mark Trumbo's defense in LF :lmao:

Just went into a slide to make a diving catch, when the ball was still 8 feet away. Ball bounced out for a ground-rule double.

Saw that. He also misplayed a pop up the inning before. Wind blowing but still.

Some guy got 5 foul balls today at the Tigers game; gave them all to kids.

Could be. He was just on ESPN. Apparently he has caught over 200 balls in his lifetime. Sits behind home plate in the last row and gets lots of bounces off the back wall.

Why do analysts think the  Sox are going to be so good this year?  Because they got Price and Kimbrel?  Hardly seems enough to drag them out of the dregs they've resided in the last two years.

Also they expect that Pablo and Hanley will be merely kinda bad instead of historically all-time bad. I watched the Red Sox yesterday, Hanley looked pretty good at 1B and stretched to grab some bad throws.

well but he'll be hurt within the next month, you know that's coming.  I don't know, just thought it weird no on seems to think the Jays will do well or even the Yankees for that matter.

The belt busting Pablo still looks pretty slick at 3rd too.

The offense looks very good this year.  They bit the bullet on Castillo and Sandoval, going with Shaw and Holt, and have generally been rewarded.  Add in Xander and Mookie, plus a healthy Pedroia and an Ortiz not showing a decline, and that is an extremely strong offense. Hanley seems to have adjusted well to 1st and is hitting.  Swihart figures to be above average for a catcher, and Bradley has had positive streaks too.  They scored 6 or more runs every game except 1 so far, when Hanley was sitting. Their weak link is mostly their starting pitching.

But that is a very glaring weak link, don't you think?  Aside from Price (who we know in big moments can crumble) their pitching is really quite meh so that's what made me wonder why I've seen so many predicting them to win not just the AL East but the American League altogether, just seemed a huge stretch to me.  Of course now that means they'll win the World Series

Should have traded for Hamels when they had the chance. I know what was reported as the asking price was high but based on what they got for him from Texas they could have made a trade.
