Pro Wrestling: Then, Now, Forever (2016)
« Topic Start: February 16, 2016, 11:20:14 AM »
Since we're into February it's probably time for a 2016 thread.

Outside of the Styles/Miz/Jericho storyline, that was a truly forgettable Raw last night.

i can think of no more wasted talent than Barrett who should have beaten Cena for the title during the Nexus program.  He was poised to be a top heel but they wouldn't go all the way with him.  Then again, he hasn't helped himself by constantly getting hurt.

I suspect he'll end up in Japan, he'd be perfect for the Bullet Club.

Speaking of Bullet Club, rumor has it that Solomon Crowe/Sami Callihan is going to be the next big addition to the crew.

I think Wade will be a great fit for NJPW and maybe Lucha Underground as a big bad for a one-off season.

I'm sure his second run in WWE will be much better if he can stay healthy. He's a quality talent.

So Meltzer says the plan for Undertaker at Mania involves someone not currently on the roster. I doubt they'd do an NXT call-up versus Taker given the short length of time left to build a challenger, so I'm guessing they figure out a way to work around Batista's Guardians of the Galaxy shooting schedule.

After Batista told Titus to quit? Eh.

I'm thinking Goldberg, Sting or Shane O'Mac.

Good episodes of NXT and Lucha Underground last night. Good main event and opener for NXT and LU was pretty solid all the way through except for a supremely hokey bit with El Dragon Azteca Jr. and Rey. Unfortunately, the Observer is reporting that Lucha Underground has in two years managed to lose about half the amount of money that TNA lost in ten. That's not good.

There's a lot of speculation is that it's Sting.  I can't imagine they go this route, but debuting Nakamura by having him defeat Undertaker would shake things up.

Sting's health would seem to indicate that it won't be him. If it's not him and not Batista, I guess it'll be Goldberg. That match will blow chunks.

Cena posted a photo of Slapshot to his instagram page the other day. That's the photo Punk uses. I'm not saying... just saying he also posted a photo of Styles right before he debuted.

Very good fastlane show so far from what I've seen starting with the end of Owens and ziggler.  Styles/Jericho three was awesome, I assume this sets up styles and Owens for WM. Charlotte/Brie was good as well.

Mediocre PPV. The secondary titles, BAE/BAD, and Jericho/Styles were good, but the Wyatts match was below average and had the exact wrong outcome, Charlotte/Brie was bad, and the main event was underwhelming and received about as lukewarm a reaction as a match to decide a contestant in the main event of Mani can get. It seems that people are beyond booing Reigns and have moved on to not giving a damn about him.

I am curious to see what the deal is with this Vince Sr. award. Clearly, Vince is giving it to HHH, but is it just for some weird story reasons, or is this something more? There has been a lot of speculation that this is going to be Vince's last Mania before stepping down. This could be nothing, but it strikes me as a potential opportunity for Vince to announce his retirement.

Vince will die within a year of retiring. WWE is his life force.

from what i've read, he works about 15 hours a day and never takes vacations.

So WWE actually did something fun for once and posted a "fan" video of Lesnar destroying Ambrose when he showed up to Raw tonight in the parking lot.

I wish they'd do more backstage stuff like that. I loved the 90's when you never knew who was going to get sneak attacked backstage.

I don't care how bad the rest of this show goes... I am a MASSIVE Shane O'Mac mark!
