I like Adam but that's such a weird and sort of creepy thing to do and retire about. Once or twice a week even, sure, but every day? I'm sure it's annoying as crap to not be able to do/say all the things you might normally do in the locker room because you have a 14-year-old always hanging around, or being able to talk/work with LaRoche without his kid by his side. I doubt anyone of us wouldn't eventually tire of a coworker constantly bringing their kid to work, regardless of how good they were or weren't.

By the way, homeschooling, tutoring and growing up constantly around locker rooms? That kid is going socially retarded if he isn't already. :smh:

The White Sox players have asked the Major League Players Association to become involved, with Eaton and Sale each saying that LaRoche had a clause in his contract permitting Drake to be with him as much as possible.

if that's the case, he should have filed a grievance instead of retiring.

And it's nice that it involves a team other than the Nats.

Saw a headline saying something about Reinsdorf calling the situation "resolved."  I can only assume this means LaRoche's son was promised his own penthouse suite and harem when he turns 18.

Ian Desmond is a "natural" centerfielder

Don't shortstops usually move positions as they get older because they can't play shortstop anymore?
I hope for his sake he kills it out there.

Taylor was drafted as a SS. Maybe we could have saved everyone the pain if we'd just put Desmond there in AA.

As I suspect is a certain notable DC resident.  Had Laroche not walked away voluntarily it probably would have occurred via executive order.
So is my 83 year old mother...a lifelong Sox fan...

Best part of this LaRoche situation is White Sox fans raging about signing "washed up Nationals lefty first basemen named Adam"

I don't suppose "Adam" Zimmerman can go on the DL lefthanded, can he?

Left-hander Ross Detwiler has been told he’ll be on the Indians’ Opening Day roster, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com tweets.  Per the terms of his deal, Detwiler will earn a $1MM base salary with the opportunity to add another $1.5MM in performance bonuses.  The former No. 6 overall draft pick spent last season with the Rangers and Braves but struggled with both teams.
