I'm wondering if the 49ers are re-thinking their offer at this point
Probably not. They are a mess. He will be an improvement.

Brian Dawkins not making the Hall of Fame is a crime. TO probably is also but we knew he would t make it because they don't like him.

Of course the worst is Jerry Jones. Yuck.

Kudos to Matt Ryan for standing up after the game and talking to the press. The anti Cam.

Their coach deserves some credit as well for coming out and saying that you have to be man enough to accept when you get your butt kicked.

They paid Kyle to make stupid play calls.

This isn't the first time a team has made horrendously bad play calls on offense agains the Patriots in a Super Bowl

But Kurt freaking Warner gets in. Another HOF screw-up

That's a head scratcher. Thought you had to have sustained success and not just a couple of great years.

Kurt makes it but the guy who pick-sixed him in the Super Bowl didn't.

I don't get the anti-Warner arguments, he went to the SB three times and was one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL for something like five or six seasons.  He took Arizona to the SB and almost won it save for a miracle catch.

He was surrounded by great talent, and the only time he wasn't, his ass got benched. Look at all the stats -- he's terrible. Speaking of, we just had the exercise of ranking the top-10 QBs over lunch. Fun time.

I don't know how you can compare Brady and Starr and say Brady is the tops and Starr doesn't even get into the conversation.  To me, they seem very similar.  The championship rings, the incredible accuracy, even the weakness in throwing deep balls.  Starr's yardage and TDs don't jump off the page, but he played in an era with less passing and less pass-friendly rules.   Brady probably had less talent around him and never had backs like Taylor and Hornung, so maybe he's better, but Starr dominated in an era with Unitas and some other quality qbs.

Hmmm, top 10 all time?

Off the top of my head, not looking at any stats:

1. Brady
2. Elway
3. Montana
4. Manning (Peyton of course)
5. Unitas
6. Roethlisberger
7. Aikman
8. Steve Young
9. Farve
10. Marino

I see them as more groupings though:  Brady/Elway in the top tier.  Montana/Manning in the second, and the rest in the third.  You could probably throw Rodgers and Jim Kelly into that mix too.  Staubach and Bradshaw deserve some honorable mention, Tarkenton too.

lol after last night I don't think it's just Pats fans who are calling him the GOAT ;)
There is no way on earth Peyton should be in the conversation any more.

10,358 more passing yards
83 more passing TDs
Higher yards/game reg. season and postseason
2% higher completion average
100 less sacks allowed
5 more AP, 3 more MVPs, 2 more Pro Bowls

It's all subjective anyways, but the case can definitely be made for Manning, and that's why he's my #1

(Image removed from quote.)
there's a bias in favor of the most recent.  I'm not a big Washington guy, but I think Baugh probably belongs in the discussion, along with Sid Luckman and Otto Graham.  Rules are different so comparisons across time are difficult.  Balls were less passing friendly and aerodynamic (also, they were not changed out as often and kept dry, or properly inflated :stir: ) . I think the reason Brees, Manning, Brady, Rodgers, and to some extent Elway, Marino, Kelly, Aikman, Young etc... piled up as impressive stats as they have (toss in Testaverde, Moon, and a few others if you want) is because of liberalized rules, changes to the balls, etc...  No doubt these guys were faster, probably stronger, and had better qb-specific fitness, but you can also judge these guys by how much better they were than their contemporaries.  By that measure, Baugh blows most of these guys away.

Agreed, but I've yet to find a great way to normalize those stats, like you can in baseball. I will add that most of guys that put together this top-10 have 20-30 years on me (but all sports guys), and that's why some are skewed differently. It was definitely fun to hear each reasoning.

Isn't Bill Polian in the Hall of Fame??? I will agree Dungy did him no favors but he had plenty of talent around him, I mean Reggie Wayne, Marvin Harrison, Edgerrin James, it's not like Polian just threw a bunch of stiffs in there and said "go win!"

... and the Edge was the best of that bunch :stir:

Similar to Brady, I think Manning made those WRs that much better.
