I'm hoping for a power bat as well.  ;)
and a metro smart card to make it to a few games.  Good luck however it turns out.

I want 2 power bats in the first (hoping for 2 out of Rizzo, benson, and kieboom) and upside arms in the second-5th (Dalton feeney or Charles king ideally)

I dont know if I'd classify Rizzo as a power bat. He can hit, but there isnt very big and there isn't much physical development left. Im not saying they are identical but I can't help but see some JP Ramirez comparisons. Similar size, position questions, and both were accomplished hitters as their calling card. Rizzo is more highly regarded, and I wouldn't write him off based on a random somewhat similar comparison. But, I just wouldn't classify him as a power bat. If we could get him under slot, that'd be great. If not, I think there are better picks.

I'm in BPA mode. It's easy to get excited about big bats and power arms. The best at whatever we can land, I'm happy with. My favorite is Manning but doubt he's around and if he is, his price tag might scare us off.

Matt is a superb pitcher, and underappreciated. I watched him with his amateur team (Canes), and he was the best arm on that nationally ranked squad. Would be shocked if he was still around that late in the 1st.

Good to hear from someone who has seen him. The frame, projectability, maturity, amd athleticism is a great package. I like multi sport guys. While they may not have quite as much experience as other guys, I'm a big believer in not locking in on one sport for 10 years. Playing different sports develops all of the body and one body part (particularly a shoulder for a pitcher) isn't warn down or built just for one sport.

I would agree that it's very unlikely he'd around. I've just read about a large bonus demand (that his dad denies). That could cause him to slide a bit. Hard to imagine the Padres, wth multiple picks and the flexibility that comes with it, not selecting him at some point, if available.

As others have mentioned, I hope everything goes well and everyone involved ends up in a good situation.  Thanks for your contributions to this thread.

Really liking Wentz, but he's probably gone by the time the Nats pick

Here's Scout.com's final mock. Should be fun tonight! http://www.scout.com/mlb/scouting/story/1677089-final-scout-2016-mlb-mock-draft?s=304

Quote
28.  Washington Nationals Matt Thaiss C Virginia

The Nats are conservative and Thaiss is a very good bat. It is an easy fit here.
29.  Washington Nationals Drew Mendoza SS/3B Lake Minneola HS

This has been a pretty constant rumor, but there are two big caveats. One, they have not taken a prep player in round one since 2012, and two, Mendoza reportedly has a big bonus demand. I could see a college arm here pretty easily, as well

If they take Mendoza, I hope they have more than an inkling they can sign him.

Each team gets 3 minutes, right? So I could theoretically just time when the Nats are up and come back?
