2016 draft watch
« Topic Start: February 07, 2016, 03:43:13 PM »
We currently hold picks 30, 58, and 94, if Desmond signs we'll get pick 31.

Outside of the elite elite guys we won't get, some personal favorites of mine are will Benson, Robert Tyler, Nolan Jones, Mike shawaryn, Alex Speas, and Jesus luzardo

When do you plan to start proposing trades for our draftees?

I'd love to see Ryan Boldt and up with the Nats.

Will he be there when it's the Nats turn?

The bat would play, but he's 5-9 200

I bet Rizzo likes the Cal Quantrell guy.

Alec Hansen more likely.  He was once considered a top 3 guy but abysmal control bumped him from the rotation in March.  Think Jake Johanson with with a better shot at reaching that elite upside

Altuve is 5' 5". If he can play, he can play.

5'9", 200 lb? He's built like a fire hydrant.

He's a fireplug.

5'9" (and if that's his listed height, it's probably generous) would be rough for a 1B -- not sure I understand the comp... 200 lb guy probably won't play up the middle. It's LF, 3B, 1B, C at that size.

The point is that if he can play, he can play. Get talent in the organization and sort it all out later.

I agree, but playing 1B at 5'9" is a bit different than playing 2B at 5'5".

Bat first profiles probably will do well this year after the success of defensive clods like aj Reed, Kyle schwarber, and Michael conforto.  Rizzo might have the best pure bat out of any prep option, although I am partial to Mickey Moniak

"28-29. Nationals: We wrote last week that the Nats aren’t afraid of Boras clients, and opined that Reggie Lawson could slot in here for that reason. Mendoza is also a Boras client and has moved up boards after showing promise with his bat this spring. The Nationals could also grab Kirilloff here if he’s available, getting two of higher upside bats in the class. PICKS: Drew Mendoza, ss/3b and Alex Kirilloff, of"
